And there was I believing Stroller meant he didn't think Johnson's absence will have a negative impact on the government's effectiveness.
Are you really comparing Boris to Churchill? One was able to raise the troops and raise the nation. The other runs the tory party whom much of the NHS abhor so i'm not sure how much morale raising he will have (now this isn't necessarily Boris fault but this is the general view as i understand it about the NHS vs the tories). You raise a good point that Boris would have had conversations with other world leaders which his advisors and civil service did not have. I would argue that he has made good and bad decisions throughout this pandemic so again, i'm not 100% sure how much worse or better off we would have been with someone else in charge. It depends what sort of crisis we are in. We have already done a U-turn on this current crisis so i'm not sure Raab will be changing the direction too much. If this was a political crisis with a foreign country, then agreed, we probably need a consistent figurehead.
Yes, I am comparing him to Churchill, as a leader in time of crisis. I wouldn't restrict it to Boris. Any PM of this country would qualify (even Gordon Brown) If Boris is away for a while, Raab will be facing difficult decisions over lockdown intensity or moderation v damage to the economy. As I say, I don't envy him
This is probably the one thing i hadn't considered that Boris would resolve. The in house bickering and fighting about the way forward within the cabinet. I guess ultimately, each one has control of their own areas so will make a decision on their own areas.
yup, it's a tough decision either way and whatever was is taken, the media will tear whoever into pieces later on. More lockdown and greater damage to the economy, that twat (whoever is the leader) is responsible for the thousands who are now homeless/committing suicide/bankrupting our country a year down the line less lock down and all the people who are dying right now could have been prevented and they don't care about humans.
Yes but that only works where minister's areas of responsibility don't conflict. Where they do, you need a strong decision-maker
The EU will be finished a lot quicker than I thought due to Coronavirus. States have ignored the EU commission on many occasions especially with the closing of borders. In return, the EU has proved to be utterly useless. They have let both Spain and Italy down. I think the Russians have helped out Italy more than the EU. The French finance minister basically said the country will be 'broke' after this and will be in the worst recession since WW2. Maybe we should hold back paying the divorce bill as I see collapse happening? Just think the great EU empire fell due to the flu?
Erm is their a rule to whose posts you like or allowed to like on here? Must have missed that bit. Very strange
