I totally get what you're saying. My problem is materials and not being able to get them now. Above all this though, I have finally decided that health is my wealth and that plastering isn't essential to anyone! I haven't had any symptoms nor has my immediate family, thank god. My brother and sister in law both have and pretty bad aswell. I could in theory go to work but the more people out there then the bigger the risk of this going on for longer. I totally appreciate people's situations but having lost the closest thing in my life on one of these ventilators before, I certainly dont wish to see that happen to any other loved ones and if I can help stop that happening then I certainly will .

Exactly. The lower skilled workers are those that actually keep the country running!

I listened very carefully to Boris.
He said essential workers and people who had to go to work and couldn't work from home.
News outlets already getting it wrong.
I recorded his statement and listened twice to ensure that I could still go to work.

All the best to everyone. I just think that paying my elecy bill or keeping up to my sky subscription isn't worth myself getting this virus or me infecting some other poor sod.

    Fair enough mate.
If I don't work, we don't have enough money for the bills.
I can work all day without getting anywhere near anyone else.

My mrs is also on the vulnerable list, similar to Turkish so that sort of plays on my mind also. I'm sure Turkish will agree with me when I say that I'm not too bothered about myself but more concerned about bringing something home that could potentially cause great harm to a loved one.

I'd do the same in your position.
As I say, I feel I'm not endangering anyone by working in isolation and travelling alone by car.

Hey you're following the instructions and believe me, I would be doing the same if it wasn't for a bit of paranoia, so I'm certainly not knocking you mate. Still be aware of surfaces and materials though pal. This **** could be hiding anywhere. This all could change in a heartbeat if I cant afford my Tassimo coffee though!!

It's a shame you can't fall back on your second set of skills Bob as that's forfeited too. ( Football Coaching if anyone doesn't know. ) Maybe the future is to learn a skill where you can work from home? It's a bit late for some of us but has anyone got any good suggestions that we can pass down to further generations?
A novel writer is the first that comes to mind, maybe a broadcaster or an online poker player.

Funny you should say that as I recently started writing a book. A mixture of fact and fiction of past experiences. As for the coaching, I still do/did paid work (just 4 hours a week) but obviously that has stopped aswell. My refresher course is supposed to be in May followed by my UEFA a in the summer although my heart doesn't quite seem in it anymore, mainly due to having to self fund them!!!

Just about any desk job can be done from home. I’ve been a ‘remote worker’ for over 10 years, albeit in normal times travelling a lot. I reckon that as vast numbers of people now join this club firstly stress levels will soar, as people don’t realise how little time they spend actually working as opposed to socialising and gossiping and ‘in meetings’ in offices, and isolation will set in with no one to chat to by the coffee machine; then secondly the company leaders will notice that people are actually more productive working from home, and they need less of them as a result. Ultimately the jobs which really can’t be done from home will be the most secure.

It's a shame that someone with so many skills can't make a living under the current circumstances.

just been told I am an essential worker so I will be on stand by the entire month
hopefully we get called out so I don't have to do the wifes quickly growing list of small and large jobs at home

hopefully you will get something sorted out soon bob as no govt can afford the self employed sector to go down the pan
my sister and her fella hope so anyway as both are self employed

the govt here has made it so all full time employees get $585 per week
part timers 385 pw for 12 weeks
luckily the company I work for are paying all staff at least 40 hours

stay away from other people but mostly stay safe everyone
