Well I can honestly say I'm appreciably less happy than i was earlier in the day. Of course I have already taken it on the chin and am very aware that whatever happens next I'm incredibly lucky to not have an ounce of the issues some others have. I will have a job at the end of this, there will be food on the table and my children are going to be fine. I just liked teaching that's all, and i liked my children being taught by competent teachers for their age bracket (not me!) and I'm going to get very tired, very quickly of looking after a 3, 6 and 8 year-old by myself (my wife is a consultant and is off her feet at the moment, so totally AWOL from home life) whilst also setting and marking work for my classes (which we are set up to do for an hour or so a day) and being portrayed in the media as having a sort of extended holiday. It will grate. A lot.
Give @DPP says Mike Ashley=C*NT a few more days to get rid of his virus and you can send your kids round to his house. He will be working from home from Monday next week.

Not necessarily! Just because children aren't in doesn't mean teachers won't be in.

Plus my self isolation ends on Tuesday.

More concerned now what the Muppet's are going to decide over the exams

I heard they had been cancelled and you will be adopting the Indonesian System - whereby grades are awarded depending on how much the parents pay the teachers.

Jak's ****ed.
DPP's ****ed
We're all ****ed.
I am doing okay mate. Working relatively normally here although think I am developing an allergy to hand sanitiser.

Proud to be working in the oil industry at this time - what other commodity producer has reduced its price by over 50% since the start of the crisis just to help the world economy get through this and start building again in the future.

Still wouldn't get much, I work in a very poor area.

It'll be very unfair and unjust if it does go down to teachers judgement as for decades we've been told we're not professional enough to use our professional judgement or integrity.

On top of this there are some students who would do better. For example, I teach a boy I've predicted to get a grade 3 but in his last set of tests he got 105 marks so would have had 6 weeks to get at least another 15 ( or 5 per paper so one big question right per paper). Personally don't think he'd do it on paper but he may do if he had that time. Him getting a grade 4 would mean his life options would multiply greatly and he'd never have to worry about having a "pass" grade.

You know my industry... imagine how busy I am. :)

I know it was bleeding obvious, but all football off until April 30th now

Last weekend (no footie, no golf, no f1), i found myself wondering what the **** do people do who aren't in to sport? They must be constantly bored ****ing ****less!!

This is gonna be a long ass summer this one I feel.

As it stands, the history of the last 150 or so years would dictate not to follow the advice or actions of the Italian governments which seem to consistently make poor decisions.

So, as they have an economy that was already on the brink of complete collapse, I can only presume that once this disaster is over with we will be facing the repercussions of the Italian economy going as poor as Greece's. Which will be a huge Eurozone crisis everyone will no doubt have to pump even more money into.

At this stage, usually the countries who are half heatedly in the EU start to waver and [HASHTAG]#doubt[/HASHTAG] so we will see lots of tensions on the continent soon. Of course the UK will pull away from the issues, citing Brexit, as will EEA countries like Norway and Switzerland who are always conveniently "not really in" the EU when these things happen.

The long term repercussions of France, Spain and Italy shutting down their already relatively weak economies will be likely more disastrous than this pandemic. Not to mention, the complete lockdown hasn't even produced results.
Whereas we have the great British pound in free fall against the Euro because our economy is so much stronger right?

Well after school today we were all called in and told we're working on as normal including through the Easter holidays and until the outbreak is over. That was a moderate bombshell compared to having to break the same news to my six and eight year olds as all their friends are preparing for months off. There were tears before bedtime in my house!

I work on the Wirral (near Liverpool). All the head teachers had a meeting this morning to pool ideas and (scant) information and agreed on what they thought best. There are two absolutely contradictory pieces of information put forward by the government. One is that schools should pool together and provide staff (so in north Wales they are using hub schools and closing most of them) but they also want pupils to be separated and the idea of pooling hundreds of pupils from different schools all together is the exact opposite of how to control the spread of a virus so on the Wirral they are keeping almost all the schools open but having fewer pupils in. We've been told we have to be in on Monday and are expected to work on indefinitely, though in fairness if there's enough of us I may only end up needing to work 2-3 days a week as we can do it in shifts.

I don't think any of the decisions are based on guidance by the government as there doesn't seem to be any.

ps.

My daughter has been given virtually the same information
It depends on how many kids parents are key workers , but she has been put on a rota for starters
