Looking for a few Hull based questions for a pub quiz. Any serious suggestions would be welcomed. Odder the better. Thanks.

You said odd, so here's your starter for 10...
1. Which famous music hall star is buried in Eastern Cemetery on Preston road?
2. What was the name of the cinema on the junction of Grimston Street and George Street?
3. Which famous industrialist was born in Hull on 22 December 1888?

I occasionally run the quiz at our local. last year I did a round themed on places I I have lived. The Hull based questions were
  • The full name of the city I grew up in is Kingston upon Hull. Which king gave the “King’s-Town” it’s royal title?
  • Phone boxes are a thing of the past (more or less), but what was unique about the phone boxes in Hull and the surrounding area?

Where was the airfield that Amy Johnson got her first taste of flying?

The full name at that time was more likely, "The City and County of Kingston, upon the River Hull.

I think the Tivoli is where Arthur Lucan dropped dead, hence being buried in Hull.

Why are the towers of the Humber Bridge 1.4inches wider apart at the top, than they are at the bottom?

Due to the curvature of the Earth (F*** you Flatearthers!)

It was "King's town upon Hull". The original charter is in the Guildhall.

I was referring to the "where I grew up in" as at that time, it was liable to be the County of Kingston, unless you're over 700 years old. :emoticon-0105-wink:

1. What was the name of the Labour Sect of State for transport who, in 1966, promised to build the Humber bridge, in return for votes?
2. What is the name of the pop duo who took their name from a shop on Beverley road?
1.Barbara Castle
2. Everything, but the Girl.
