I didn't know, or had forgotten, that (sacked at Peterborough after 7 winless games). Interesting. I thought or assumed he moved on to better himself. HmmmnWilders turned out to be a brilliant appointment by The Blunts.
He was a welcome appointment by the majority, after all he'd got oxford promoted from the conference, gone on to get Northampton promoted to div 1 which was the league The Blunts were in at the time.
Plus big factor also, he was a local lad born in stocksbridge 'returning home' to his home team club, one he'd played for.
Shame theres no equivalent Hull born ex player with a couple of years of lower league management success under his belt out there.
As an aside, Terry was sacked 2 years ago by Peterboro for a winless run of 7 games he's on borrowed time, and if he isn't he bl**dy should be

Buy a new sports car?So, Papa & Ehab do not know anything about football. OK, so let's say you are the owner of an American Football Club or some sport that you are vaguely familiar with as a spectator but don't really have a great deal of understanding of the game or the coaching level (you are now the equivalent of Papa & Ehab re football). Your team are in trouble with time running out... you are the non-savvy football owner and you find yourself in the predicament that Papa & Ehab are in right now.........what ya going to do? The sacking of McCann right now and the appointment of Saint Dowie or whatever other name takes your fancy is oh so simple to post up on screen when there are no financial stakes involved for you. So come on, Mr/Mrs/Ms non-savvy football owner .....what do you intend doing to ensure the team survives at this level & yes, you do want it to stay at this level (cut out all the sarcasm). Off the cuff keyboard promulgations and solutions are too easy to spout. Put yourself in the real world for a minute...financial costs, player attitude toward current manager versus someone new - Dowie didn't save us; Silva didn't save us - we are up the creek and you, non-savvy owner, are standing there in your office this Monday, the decision maker. What is your next move?
Find out who is available and would comeWhat is your next move?
I honestly don't think they'll see it that way!
They can rarely if ever accept they are wrong. They'll see it that they've implemented this wonderful enlightened progressive club identity based on sustainability, playing style, recruitment policy, and up & coming bright manager, etc etc. It will be the fault of others, and bad luck, not theirs. Just like they still maintain the name change was a great / the right idea, same with their plans for the KC & surrounds, the ticketing model, whatever. .
I think to a large degree we are actually saying the same, as Phil Buckingham put it pounds are more important than points. IMO, they care little about whether the club does well on the field or not as long as they run the business in a financially prudent way. In doing that wherever are the results on the pitch so be it, one is a result of the other.

Struggling to see the financial prudence in relegation.
Well they would have to pay less in wages in league one and I reckon the gate receipts would be about the same as they are now, I don't think they will go much lower.Struggling to see the financial prudence in relegation.
I'd certainly be summoning Grant McCaan to the boardroom and asking him the same question I'm going to ask you.Do you see 2 points gained from the last 30 possible as a reasonable enough yield? Are the players putting there best efforts in on the pitch? And are you confident enough of being able to turn this round and stave off the financial disaster that relegation would offer? So, Papa & Ehab do not know anything about football. If the answer, from him,is anywhere near as bizarre as his prediction that we'd get a hammering from Leeds if we didn't step up,I'd probably phone that taxi mob up Springbank and order him a taxi!!!
I would imagine he probably does but I'd ask him for his company car keys too...Does he not drive?
Owners giving their managers their full support and backing often turns out to be a kiss of death.Boro play Forest at home tonight, a big game for them (and for us!). Again Boro are in poor form, they have got 7 pts from the last 10 games, better than us but still the pressure and expectation is on Woodgate. Gibson has come out giving his manager his full backing https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-gibson-exclusive-middlesbroughs-relegation-17841031
I would like to see Ehab & Assem come out and give Terry McCann their full support and backing.
