How on earth has this thread been dormant for a month! Anyway, today Arsene Wenger has words of comfort for us all. 'You will be not offside if any part of the body that can score a goal is in line with the last defender, even if other parts of the attacker’s body are in front. That will sort it out and you will no longer have decisions about millimetres and a fraction of the attacker being in front of the defensive line.' I'm pleased that someone with power has come out and said something, but still don't think it will solve the issue.
It doesn't solve anything at all as it just moves the problem line to somewhere else, and ignores the fundamental issue that we shouldn't be looking at offside that close.
By “close” I take it you mean that if the blind, incompetent on-pitch ref or assistant ref doesn’t see it as offside, there is zero point in a blind, incompetent VAR ref looking at it!
Not a fan of talk sport but this is more fact based. I was surprised to see we might be thankful for it but not surprised that Man U have been helped by it... https://talksport.com/football/670436/manchester-united-arsenal-premier-league-table-var/
Don’t know how accurate this is because I don’t believe they count all the VAT incidents ......for example they failed to mention the handball by Burnley which potentially cost us a pen which would earn us a point.......if it were Liverpool, city, Utd it would have been.
Yeah, I'm a bit conflicted as well. VAR was responsible for Berty's red, and the was like a double down on bad after they scored. Also doesn't mention the ones it misses like Ings at L'pool. And then we need to be greatful for it picking up on offsides of which the officials should be doing anyway. I'd rather go back to the guessing of yesteryear where we all knew where we stood.
Sorry but that's bollocks. That challenge was studs up into the shin. Such an obvious red I'm still stunned now.
Can guarantee if that was Saints would’ve been a red, like the blatant pen we didn’t get last week or the blatant Son dive. Or something
