Burnley enjoying Var regarding their handball decisions.......that’s 3 that’s gone their way in a week.
I had a text from a mate yesterday, and it went a little like this. 'Hope you are sitting down for this news, Garth Crooks has just said something really sensible. I'm not joking.' Glad I was sat down when I read that, because I nearly fell over!
Its absolutely stupid, man city got a penalty for a handball which wasnt as obvious as our denied shouts too. They just make it up every time, pure luck
There are others like "Karma", "That is for getting above yourselves" and "There is only one South Coast Team"
VAR is to be congratulated on getting me to feel sorry for those B's along the coast. An old Glaswegian guy was once telling me a story about a local team in a Catholic community that won every game simply because the referee would find reasons to give them penalties. He joked that he'd once seen a penalty given when the ball was in the other penalty area. Well thank heavens that can't happen in real football ......... The other thing that hit me was just how far back should a VAR go? Last season when we conceded a goal to Liverpool after Salah had receieved the ball about 10 yards offside in the build up, the pre-Liverpool pundits argued that this was going back too far in the move as Saints had time to re-group (Offside Law - Liverpool sub-clause). That Burnley decision asks serious questions. Surely the position of the ball at first kick off needs reviewing. If the ball had been misplaced then the result would be void. I've been looking at the kick off in the home game against Leicester ...
I’d like to take an angle grinder to Var, and when I’ve carved to pieces, I’d like to take a 9lb lump hammer to the fragments.
Unfortunately, VAR Was correct today. The ref was still **** though and pre VAR we would have had 11 men on the pitch and Newcastle wouldn't have h=missed a penalty.
It's still **** though. And you could say it proves that certain clubs are given more leeway for red card offences.
