I agree that politics seems to creep into every thread. This is the Nest. We have recently had a big political thing in Watford Short Term News. It has to stop, ofh. Kick him off for increasing lengths of time till he learns. He can stand the occasional 24hr bans where he goes and tries to figure out which way round to sit on the toilet, but comes back each and every time and continues the trolling.
The first time I put a thread ban on was for 24 hours. The second time it was 48 hours, and if there is a third time it will be a week. After that a complete site ban is the next stage which will last a minimum of a month. The final stage is to have an account deleted.
There is an article on the BBC website which says that people who simply use social media to wind others up should be jailed.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says social media trolls should face prison sentences.
The ex-England international, 38, who has previously spoken of his own battle with depression, is concerned by the impact social media comments can have.
"People can be traced and they've got to make examples of these people - I'm talking jail sentences," Kirkland said. "Social media, it's poison," he said. "You can use it for good, but unfortunately a lot of people don't seem to realise that.
We do not know about the problems that anyone on here might be living through unless they choose to share with us. It therefore makes it imperative for everyone of us to consider what they say before posting, and think of the greater good rather than simply try to create an effect. If someone thinks it is worth a jail term, then it should be treated seriously.
