The first time I put a thread ban on was for 24 hours. The second time it was 48 hours, and if there is a third time it will be a week. After that a complete site ban is the next stage which will last a minimum of a month. The final stage is to have an account deleted.

There is an article on the BBC website which says that people who simply use social media to wind others up should be jailed.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says social media trolls should face prison sentences.

The ex-England international, 38, who has previously spoken of his own battle with depression, is concerned by the impact social media comments can have.

"People can be traced and they've got to make examples of these people - I'm talking jail sentences," Kirkland said. "Social media, it's poison," he said. "You can use it for good, but unfortunately a lot of people don't seem to realise that.

We do not know about the problems that anyone on here might be living through unless they choose to share with us. It therefore makes it imperative for everyone of us to consider what they say before posting, and think of the greater good rather than simply try to create an effect. If someone thinks it is worth a jail term, then it should be treated seriously.

Morning all. Bright and dry again, but there is a bit of a nip in the breeze at present. I want to get some more ground ready for early plantings, so as there is an afternoon of rugby and football to watch I had better get on. Enjoy your day, may the Hornets collect three points, and I feel 100% certain that the Canaries will not drop any points this weekend. <ok>

The problem is the media we are using Frenchie. If we were having a discussion in a pub then people would be more carefull how they behave. Similarly if I were writing a letter then I would write it and then read it through a couple of hours later before posting - but social media is so quick - click and it's gone. It also has an anonymity which we don't have in real life. The last thing we want to do is to ban all controversial threads and end up with a sterile forum as a result. If all we can talk about is football, sport, and the weather then our forum will end up as a poorer place. It's not the subject of our discussions which is the problem - but rather how we do it. What we really need is mutual respect, and the idea that others have as many reasons for their ideas as you yourself have - in the absence of that we need a clear set of rules which we all adhere to. Banning political threads is not the answer because politics can run into so many other subjects - especially football. How, for example, can a socialist be a 'fan' of the Premier League and the way it is destroying competitive football ?

    Agreed, good post.

The vast majority of posters with similar mindset (labelled the 'clique' by some) on here seem unable to accept alternative views being poster on 'their' forum. As previously mentioned several contributors have left the forum because of this lopsided pressure group. Recent political events have gone against this group making them even more aggressive and even less tolerant. We should be able to disagree heartily without resorting to insults. It does not help having the present moderator deeply entrenched in this group using the delete button on views which just happen to disagree with his.

I personally try to post only comments I would say face to face meeting fellow posters in a pub before a WFC game.

I suspect that you would be quite shocked if you received some of the messages that I do, and where they come from. There is no group here that are of one view. People may say something in public that they do not say in private. The message that I receive most is to control just you SH. Even in this post you talk about posters being aggressive and less tolerant. That seems to be in your mind because I see no sign of it. As for my views, which I suppose you would like me not to express, they are not designed to wind people up like you take a delight in. This is a forum that operates for many, not just you or me. If you do not like what you read, then you do not have to join in. This thread has always been clear of politics, people ask that it should remain that way. If I remove your political posts from it do not be surprised, and if you push me very much harder you will be removed from the site totally.

I have no problem with you expressing your views, it seems you do not like others expressing views contrary to yours. Your constant UK bashing / everything French is wonderful, daily posts can be a bit wearing. I wonder why you need to do this?

A forum is for different views to be aired, even those you personally disagree with. I'm sure you receive many whinging messages from fellow clique members. You should try harder to be more neutral. I have received many messages criticising your biased, all from those that have given up and stopped posting.

I am not getting into an argument with you SH. I know of people who no longer post because of you. If you wish to go against the vast majority who use this site, then I can only suggest you are in the wrong place.

I certainly know of people that have left because of you. Just because your clique dominates at the moment does not exclude those that happen to have alternative views, this is a forum for Christ sake.

Quite likely andy. I cannot even stand the smell of curry. Went into a pub in Dorset for a sandwich one day, and my friend noticed that there was curry available. Medium, hot or very hot sir asked the landlord. Very hot was the order. After it was delivered and he started to tuck in, we noticed beads of perspiration starting to drip from his forehead. He managed half, by which time he was quite red in the face. The remainder was put in a foil container for him to take home for his breakfast. The next day he looked at it and decided to give it to the dogs. They behaved very strangely for the rest of the day.

Mrs Fez is allergic/intolerant to many spices... yet still makes the best Bombay Potatoes I've ever had - and I've visited a few curry houses in my time!
