I don't mind the "friendly final" tag, because it was the 80s and hooliganism was rampant and us and Norwich showed how the game should be supported, but it wasn't half a crappy match! I hated Steve Bruce for going on telly saying how he was certain they'd win and then they did, the bastard! Got revenge over Norwich in the '92 FA Cup semi though. I got ****faced after that one and had to go to work in the morning with the world's worst hangover. WHY play a SF on a Sunday FFS?
Me and a red and white mate were talking about this game the other day. I know the goal was deflected off Corner(?), but I was amazed who took the shot. I didn't even know he played for Norwich. Anyone care to guess???
Very true Billy & who would be best mates with Kevin Keegan. Didn't they release a record together about horse **** or summit?
I though it was the wonderful Asa Hartford (the man with a hole in his heart!) and the deflection was off Gordon Chisholm's chest Need to dash and check on U Tube..................................
Yep - Asa off Gordon (go to 1m 47 secs) David Corner was robbed in the corner in the build up) as the camera follows the players around you will see a skinny little runt climbing the fence behind the goal - that was me all those years ago
