That's a contract thing, not a football thing as far as I can see. Battle of wills. Player wanted us to subsidise a move, City baulked. Mexican standoff ensued. Did he really justify his reported wages? Probably not.
*Also worth considering samuelson and henriksen share an agent. If the situation was so toxic between all parties then samuelson probably wouldn't have signed.
I said on here a year or two back that I'd heard that Ehab's plan was to buy young players and build a team that way with the potential of hopefully selling them on for a profit. I think that McCann's ideology is similar, at least build the team of younger players part. I think that is what we are seeing now.
Personally I see the sense in Turbo being offloaded, he will be greatly missed, but to get something for him with 6 months left on his contract, and get him off the wage bill makes a lot of sense. I think they have learnt from the Henriksen saga, they extended his contract hoping to sell him for money and it badly backfired, they wouldn't do the same with Turbo at the end of the season. As for Bowen, even though I would be really sad if he goes, it will either be now or for sure the end of the season. Jarrod deserves his chance in the EPL, he is not going to get that now this season with us, so he should take his chance if the right club comes along. As the Playoffs are likely to be out of reach this season now, if they have been offered $16M + addons, then in the Allam's position I probably would sell. You never know what might happen, Bowen gets an injury like Moses you've lost the chance, Jarrod's stock is high now, if you are going to sell then I might also be tempted to cash in. I think we all know that the Allam's have little ambition to invest any money into the club now, so I guess we will just have to tread water until they go, and like them, only hope that by some miracle a load of young players do actually gell and turn into a promotion team.
I'm just hoping that today Ehab doesn't get his deadlines mixed up and we end up signing Michel Barnier to play centre-right and Jarod ends up as Head of the European Commission.
So.. here we are, deadline day! Its Hull City we're talking about here so prepare yourself for a roller-coaster. I think we'll lose Grosicki, Bowen & hopefully Henriksen finds a club too. What id like to see us bring in is a quality proven striker, Maddison to replace Bowen (as they're both left footed, like for like..) and someone to replace Grosicki, pacey as **** maybe a bit more of a team player. We'll probably sell all 3 and only bring in Maddison..
He has 547k followers. I know some get hung up on follower numbers being somehow related to information accuracy. Let us hope he’s an amateur!
Not sure thats a good move for the lad... especially as it looks like they'll come straight back down.
Sky reporting Bowen travelling to West Ham for medical .. price agreed at £20m Edit ... now saying deal worth £20m
If we won deadline day a few years ago when we had signed Long and Jelavic. How do you describe this deadline day?
The "Let's hope he's an amateur"? That was the bit I was responding to. Sorry, kind of hard to read the sarcasm in that but fair enough.
