You can boil parsnips. Just don’t boil them if you want roast parsnips. They’re not spuds.

Well that's down to personal preference mate. I never blanched parsnips for roasting as they cook quicker than the spuds they usually go in with.

Love my sprouts blanched for two /three minutes then hoyed into ice cold water to stop the cooking process and retain the beautiful greeness. Toss in butter bacon pieces nd crushed chestnuts and plate nice with a crunch in them!

Saw a sprout recipe where the sprouts were cooked until you could mash individually with a fork, put in a baking tray, splashed with a little olive oil, some crushed garlic and covered in mozzarella and baked in the oven for about 20 minutes. Looked pretty good. Might give it a go after Christmas as a lunch option?

Sprouts are hanging. I’ve tried all of the regular recipes to try and hide their rankness, like the halved and fried off with lardons and garlic, mixed with chestnuts etc, but they still fundamentally ming.

This. My mum loves the ****s and was hugely offended when I, as a young child, hated them. She used to mash them up with potatoes to try and trick me to eat them. I used to love mashed potato until she started doing that, now I can't eat it anywhere as I don't trust it and the texture or some **** reminds me of this ultimate **** me over from someone who was supposed to look after me

A hint of vinegar completely changes the taste (I don't mean drown them like you do with fish and chips!!)

On a thought, I quite like proper fried bread with just vinegar sprinkled with vinegar. Healthier than toast n butter.
