Having looked at many of the alternatives since the BBC announced they were disbanding 606, I would say that it is this site that is evolving into by far the best option. In my opinion this is largely down to the drive of some of the ex 606 posters, with Syd in particular deserving a lot of credit.
However, what I can't understand is why many of the lads and lasses on here have abandoned 606 long before it is due to finish. after all, that is where the roots of our cyber community are based, and I think it is sad that many on here are not seeing it through until the end.
Surely it is not that hard to pop over now and again to give the odd opinion and make sure the Sunderland flag is well represented until the curtain finally comes down...

Personally I don't see the point of posting on two sites and I prefer this one.
The Beeb should close 606 now rather than leaving it to die a slow painful overly "modded" death.

I left due to the Mags going on and trying to get themselves banned....the discussions were deteriorating fast.

We will not get the major switch until 606 closes. I think this site is the best alternative, so until then I will post on both sites. It's hard to get a thread going on here atm, not enough posters. So I continue my major posts on 606 but post a link to here when appropriate.

If everyone who switches now stays only on this site it will not help to spread the word on 606.

It depends on the team TBH mate.
Sunderland and Newcastle fans seemed to come across very quick after the closure of 606 was announced. Most other teams seem to be dragging their heals a bit.
I'm sure most will cross over in the end.

    You confident for the weekend?

MrRAW, I keep popping back on every couple of days but there seems to me to be more unwashed on our board than mackems and all just wumming and baiting, nothing constructive at all. I will keep looking at it and if anything interesting is on i will comment but i think this is where the majority of our true fans are nowadays.

You can't be confident, going to the SOL is always tough. On the other hand Spurs have been getting results while not playing well, and we will click at sometime this season. If it's on Saturday, game on!

This is exactly my point! The 606 site needs consructive contributions from the people who made it what it was. It may be me just being sentimental, but I view the 606 site with a kind of affection, which is born out of the great debates from fans of all clubs that took place there...
At the moment, this site has taken off with fans of Sunderland and Newcastle, but not so much with other clubs...What I would like to see is the posters from here backing 606 (alongside this site) until the end, which will serve the dual purpose of fighting our corner on 606 until the end, and also be in a stronger position to persuade fans from other clubs that this is the best alternative when the end of 606 arrives..

I never once swore on the BBC606 either outright or hidden like sh1t.
    I wasn't racist or abusive.
But I did laugh a lot at the failed Mag WUMS.

My inbox was full of "your post has been removed" notifications.

Not 1 or 2 but dozens. No right to complain, which gave the Mag moderator on there free rein.

Too many threads on the BBC went missing when the original poster was losing his argument and complained.

Mackemwelder have to say your point about there being more unwashed than Mackems is very unfair as it clearly isn't true.

If you are passing this on to fellow Mackems on BBC606 it will stop others following us here, without even checking it out
    .

There are only a couple regular Wum's turn up, One of which has been warned about his disruptive behaviour. (Not for his Wumming as he wasn't very good at it!)

I see Gordon is continually slagging "NOT" off over on the BBC, his complaints don't hold water, as personally I think the swearing has toned down naturally without the need for over moderation. I wonder if he is still stamping his feet over not being made a moderator here? :)

Edited this post as I read Mackemwelders post completely wrong my apologies MW. <ok>

My first thought was to call you a lying *******, but I won't, but please don't lie about me, MackemsRule !

I'm sorry to have to say this, 'cos I didn't want to interfere on this board ( I still browse ) but I couldn't stand by and allow you to wrongly slate me like that without replying :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Plenty of people have mentioned the fact you ain't been on Gordon, i'd say your the last of the more 'prolific' 606ers to make the leap.

Under the right circumstances, and I don't mean what a certain poster who jumps to conclusions without foundation thinks I mean, I would do so, Captain <ok> but certain people ( maybe I should say 'a certain person' ) don't ( or doesn't ) seem to feel the same :emoticon-0101-sadsm

One poster in particular seems to have a 'one way' vendetta against me, so I prefer to stay in the background - at least for now :emoticon-0145-shake

I gave up 606 after they put my last account into the longest pre mod ever known to mankind. Fair enough i went on, on a saturday night after a day on the sauce and was generally sweary and obnoxious, but thats just one day. Legislation should be made to allow one drunken rant per week.

Anyways, i can't see me going back. I've only glanced back about twice since i came over.

I'm either ran ragged, or sat scratching me tatties, no in between!

Don't want to argue with you, but I'm not standing for you calling me a liar.

I shall also do it without swearing. <ok>

As has been said you are very welcome here, the point I have tried to make to you on numerous occasions is about joining a forum and then try to change it to your way of thinking!
This forum is settling down nicely, as the rest of us more reasonable posters knew it would.
You decided not to give it a chance to settle, but wanted it changed to your agenda instantly.

I am not going to go trawling through every post you have ever made, as this one on BBC606 says it all unedited by me. <ok>

Why mention NOT606, if not to have a pop at it?

    Gordon Armstrong (U7696395)

I'm sticking about, partly because one of the alternatives, 'Not606' is a 'free for all' full of abuse

I don't mind swearing, but I don't agree with actively encouraging the abusing of each other by just letting people get on with it

Decent posters will not stay long, and it will be the others who will rule which is a pity 'cos it looks good, and could be a very good alternative/replacement for '606' if organised correctly

Into the Light ( I.T.L. ) is a similar site to 'Not606' which allows swearing, but does not condone the abuse . . . . altogether a much better, and more peaceful option, without the abuse and with members who regularly meet up for a pint
