Yes, MackemsRule, that's " continually slagging "NOT" off over on the BBC " <doh> . . . . I knew you'd find one :emoticon-0138-think

I presume you didn't notice this bit, then

. . . . " Decent posters will not stay long, and it will be the others who will rule which is a pity 'cos it looks good, and could be a very good alternative/replacement for '606' if organised correctly "

I wonder if anyone else read it the way you did, rather than the way it was intended.

Don't want to argue with you, but I'm not standing for you calling me a liar.

I shall also do it without swearing. <ok>

As has been said you are very welcome here, the point I have tried to make to you on numerous occasions is about joining a forum and then try to change it to your way of thinking!
This forum is settling down nicely, as the rest of us more reasonable posters knew it would.
You decided not to give it a chance to settle, but wanted it changed to your agenda instantly.

I am not going to go trawling through every post you have ever made, as this one on BBC606 says it all unedited by me. <ok>

Why mention NOT606, if not to have a pop at it?

I'm sticking about, partly because one of the alternatives, 'Not606' is a 'free for all' full of abuse

I don't mind swearing, but I don't agree with actively encouraging the abusing of each other by just letting people get on with it

Decent posters will not stay long, and it will be the others who will rule which is a pity 'cos it looks good, and could be a very good alternative/replacement for '606' if organised correctly

Into the Light ( I.T.L. ) is a similar site to 'Not606' which allows swearing, but does not condone the abuse . . . . altogether a much better, and more peaceful option, without the abuse and with members who regularly meet up for a pint

I can see both sides here, it's fair to say a few of us, i include myself, went a bit 'swear happy', just because we could, sad really as a 30year old fella but hey ho.

Swearing does have a place here, but it's settled now Gordon, and there's been some great debates and some great laughs, and i for one don't see any alternative near to this.

I hope the pair of you can settle your difference, as i'm sure i speak for many when i say your both respected and welcomed on this board.

Kiss and make up, gan on ;)

I unreservedly apologise about "continually". <ok>

So you are saying, you and the rest of the decent posters have left?

There by inferring all the posters left here, are not up to your standard.

As far as your "the others will rule" point, Syd has done an excellent job on here.
So much so the site Admin has made him the Global Moderator.

Your post was clearly intended to deter people from "NOT" and push them toward ITL

I think your going a little over the top here MR.

Gordon expressed and opinion based on the early days of the site, and the fact he's here today shows he was prepared to give it a go, and come back.

Gordon has always been a decent and colourful contributor to our debates, we should be doing more to encourage him to come on board, not having a go due to his past opinion.

I'm sure your both adult enough to bury this and get back to the stuff that matters, Sunderland AFC, and laughing at our neighbours <ok>

You're quite right, 'MackemsRule' 'cos I did suggest 'Into the light' . . . . for specific reasons <ok>

At the moment 'ITL' is a better site, without the hostility I mentioned, but, as I stated earlier and you brought up, this site could be good

'cos it looks good, and could be a very good alternative/replacement for '606' if organised correctly'
<ok>

Bruceys I have absolutely no problem with Gordon personally, but I do with anyone who tries to force me to go along with their way of thinking as if there is no alternative.

Probably the reason why I have been an Atheist since I first learnt to read.

I would love Gordon to post regularly on here as he can and does make some interesting posts.

However a minority should never be allowed to make decisions over the majority.

Whilst i agree with the principles there mate, i think the fact that Gordon is visiting the board and posting, shows he is prepared to give this board a chance and come on board.

We ain't achieving anything referring back to posts from the past, other than to alienate a potentially valuable contributor.

I say we can leave it there and all get back to being chums eh?

You were made a mod for your level headed approach, and i miss Gordons smiley riddled rants!

What's the point in staying on the old site? As others have rightly pointed out, the quality of the articles and debate have sunk. possibly due to the sensible people moving over here but also because there were some ridiculous WUM articles appearing and the mods seemed indifferent to deleting them.

Like I said it is nothing personal and he is more than welcome here. <ok>

MrRAW, binned 606 when my account was deleted for some reason by the Beeb not sure why so decided just to leave it, maybe they are just trying to nick everyone off enough to pull it without too much fuss and replace it with linespersons hour on Radio4 or some other drivel.

Actually, the vast majority of clubs still have a thriving community on 606. It appears that it is just Sunderland fans that have abandoned it almost to a man...I think that this site is coming along nicely, but the vast majority of users seem to either Sunderland or Newcastle fans, where as 606 is still very popular as a debating arena with fans from far and wide. I can't see the problem of posters fighting our corner on there on a national basis, as well as arguing with the Mags, or fellow Sunderland fans for that matter, on here...<cool>

The Spurs board on 606 is as normal. A handful of posters have registered here but have gone back to 606 until the day comes! There is a waiting game going on to see which way everyone jumps. I think not606 has the best chance atm. Very little going on here with Spurs atm.

Having looked at many of the alternatives since the BBC announced they were disbanding 606, I would say that it is this site that is evolving into by far the best option. In my opinion this is largely down to the drive of some of the ex 606 posters, with Syd in particular deserving a lot of credit.
However, what I can't understand is why many of the lads and lasses on here have abandoned 606 long before it is due to finish. after all, that is where the roots of our cyber community are based, and I think it is sad that many on here are not seeing it through until the end.
Surely it is not that hard to pop over now and again to give the odd opinion and make sure the Sunderland flag is well represented until the curtain finally comes down...

hi i am having big problems trying to stay connected onto yhis site and forum i am on and off unable to post at time so for that reason i will still be browsing as i do and some times posting but a mainly brose on both sites but untill a few days ago i have had problems like i say on 606 <bubbly>

is there a peoblem its been like this for a couple of days some times my posts do not appear <bubbly>

Most of us regulars from the SPN (ScottishPremierNews, the old Not606) days were recruited from 606 anyway.

We used this place as well as 606. In a way I'll be sad to see 606 go but seriously glad this place has had some new life put into it.

A lot of credit has to go out to MalteseMick, he's spent a lot of his own time and cash on here and SPN but even more so in recent days. Especially with these DOS attacks. <ok>
