Dave, the most pitiful thing about a large section of the electorate is that they'll shout about the bit I put in bold when the reality is that they will NEVER be in that bracket anyway. I appreciate that some have aspirations toward reaching those kinds of income levels but there is a bloody good reason why the average wage in this country is about £28k.
Another ludicrous thing is that a massive proportion of the working class have never experienced Socialism as they've only seen Tory and Blairite governments so lap up the lies and exageration portrayed in the rags.
The final bit of stupidity in my opinion, is that ordinary working people on average incomes, with ordinary prospects and abilities seem to think that they are not working class at all and are in fact middle class - the working class to them being those people who either don't work at all, or do the very worst paid menial jobs etc. Big wake up call coming to a huge slice of our deluded population if a Tory government gains a working majority
They have experienced socialism, they just don’t understand what it entails.
The NHS, Welfare State, Free Education, Social Care, Social Housing are all, unless I am mistaken, socialist ideals.
If people realised this they wouldn’t be scared of the word socialism and might actually start thinking that it is not that bad an idea, especially when compared with what we have been put through over the last 9 years.
