He has a Jewish background. That has relevance here

I read Austin was so well respected on the Labour benches his colleagues were yelling at him to go and join the other side, recently I think. He's a K***

You mean to say he's no more sensitive to the antisemitism in the Labour Party than a non-Jewish person?

Sorry goldy im going to have to disagree with this. Its appalling, most people listen to the experts (and expect it to be correct). Rees mogg is a twat for coming out with this.

Yes, I believe he did, perhaps because May was a Remainer. But Boris is too close to the ERG, and Ken would rather walk away and revoke Article 50. It's not incredibly newsworthy.

No problem, Bobby. I've listened to the excerpt again. He says the problem was the cladding and the stay put policy. If you ignore what you're told and leave, you are so much safer. It's common sense etc.

I still think he is looking ahead to future problems. He is certainly not criticising those that stayed and died, but his language was clumsy. But you can tell, listening to him, he is agonising over the whole issue. I thought the Bridgen quote was worse, it was arrogant.

I mean to say that’s not what’s driven his slightly bizarre outburst. If you really want to denounce racism you don’t tell people to back Boris Johnson. This is a personal feud with Corbyn.

Who knows all the heat blowing up the stairs, the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide and anyone else who will faint. The best policy might be to stay put provided your building isnt isnt surrounded by cladding that helps the building go up in flames.

Wasnt there that fire in japan where the advice and action was to go onto the roof?

Don't disagree about the feud. But having listened to him, I'd say what was at the bottom of the feud was Austin's sense of Corbyn's negative attitude towards Jewish people. If you know of something else, be interested to hear. But I think we can leave out the stuff about him being mentally impaired

Tbf i have only seen the headlines so i will get back with an answer.

Just heard the excerpt, i don't think he's malicious about it but i disagree about the common sense aspect of it.

Definitely the criticism has been over the top but i think comparing to leaving a fire in a house to a giant block apartments is different.

I agree with you now though people i think rees Mogg is being unfairly maligned on this occasion

There is a period before the fire takes hold and is localised, when people can evacuate.

Say put can have problems generally. Look at 9/11.

If you can get out of the building, get out

He is the"Father of the House"! Grandad more likely. Unlike Austin he is well respected. And always struck me as a very loyal Tory. He's been Tory Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary, and now he's no longer going to vote for his own party! That says a lot. Far more newsworthy than someone who has a career at odds with his fellow MP's. He never could play football either.

Clarke has been a Europhile for years and years. He is a leading Remainer. Everyone knew he was struggling. And finally he admits he want to revoke Article 50 and Remain. He's retiring and won't vote for Boris. If this was put on the front page of a newspaper, it wouldn't sell.

But Austin was a Labour MP until earlier this year, who has been working class all his life, and is saying that Corbyn is so unfit to be leader, that Austin has no alternative but to recommend to Labour voters that they vote...for Boris Johnson! That is huge, and the feeling is, he won't be the last...

Find me a Tory leaving MP that recommends to Tory voters they give their vote to Jeremy Corbyn!

I'm not sure if clarke ever voted for article 50 in the first place to be fair to him. As for not being on the front of the papers, that is exactly the point Abbott is making ffs.
