I dare say that if the French government stopped providing enough housing for the population, reduced payments to people out of a job to poverty levels, made cuts larger than the ones imposed to education, charged large fees to those wanting to enter further education and cut public services to the police and hospitals, then they could do so, but they seem to want a society that is not broken.

and past the huge debt to future generations. The weekly riots portray a different France, poverty, unemployment and racial tension.

The USA is extremely worried about having a debt level that high which is why Trump is trying to re-balance the unfair trading relationships between it and China and the EU. Expect firm action by the USA on the EU once the UK has left.

The USA has already created enough chaos in world markets. Anyone who believes that they will come to the rescue of the UK is living with the unicorns.

What is certain the EU is in for a difficult time after the UK leaves. Trump is determined to correct the unfair tariffs which apply at the moment. I'm confident the US will give the UK a much better deal than the EU will achieve, and at a much quicker time frame.

More soundbites and speculation. Project Fantasy as usual.

I hope that Moggy is rejoicing in making the main item on the news today. I wonder if he has ever been into a tower block?

Germany has sensible fiscal rules France alas does not.
To be honest SH. you can't compare Germany to France or the UK. because of its extremely decentralized structure. In Britain 75% of public spending comes directly from Westminster whereas the equivalent figure in Germany is only 30%. I pay my taxes to the state government of Nordrheinwestfalen in Düsseldorf and not to Berlin. Some states of Germany have overspent, others haven't.

The USA has an import export imbalance and is looking for somewhere to dump its goods SH.

Germany as whole probably still reacts to its historical horrendous inflation experience. It does also benefit from the fiscal cock ups of its fellow euro members by keeping the value of the euro lower than the Mark would be.

Germany has huge influence on the ECB and the EU would financially run much better if all countries were controlled centrally by Brussels.

Don't be so ridiculous!

If you think that there is any humour in 72 people dying in a fire, then you are as insensitive as Mogg.

That is a silly comment, nobody is referring to the tragedy. You should not have been trying to make political capital out of the situation.
