In both codes of rugby VAR works well and is generally accepted by both players and supporters. It certainly eliminated a lot of ****housery that used to go on in scrums etc. The rules for its use in football is pretty well written in custard, which has led to a lack of understanding of what its true role is.

Var was introduced to make sure the big decisions were being made correctly, that's fine but they are still getting things wrong. It's great for the TV viewer but horrific if you're in the stands and a goal is scored and they are looking for any tiny infringement before awarding the goal. Fans are jumping around then suddenly the ref gets a message to delay the kick off. It will damage the game for the attending supporters in favour of making more drama for the armchair viewer.
Imagine the scenario, 44 mins on the clock and Pants clears long from his penalty box Fletcher rises like a salmon and lays the ball back to some bloke called Defoe, half a second later the ball is smashed into the Geordies net. The stadium erupts, grown men hug strangers with tears of joy in their bloodshot eyes. Wait Wait the ref has had a signal to delay the restart. How **** would that have been?
Use Var to judge wether fouls were correctly called when a card was produced, red or yellow, after the match and hand out sanctions for foul play that was missed by the match officials.
Var works great in games that naturally are stop start, football is at its best when the game is allowed to flow.

Is it bollox great for the tv viewer id rather have an instant decision than having to wait 3 or more minutes

Aye Hank but you're not the typical tv viewer, you're a match going fan so you want the game to flow as do I. The majority of TV viewers have never been to games so to them it adds to the drama the same way as they love penalty shoot outs.

Watched 2 games on Saturday on the box & 3 on Sunday lol

Yeh players are offside etc etc by use of a laser if the movement of you foot means your boot lace is father forward you are off side never mind your body

I agree. The thing is,I don't think VAR has changed that mate. Just look at Firmino's disallowed goal - it was so tight a decision. Someone else looking at it in the VAR studio, could well have given the goal. Same with Alli's handball.

Var is not infallible, it does not mean correct decisions will always be made, it is just another aid for the ref.
 
And var is only in games where big money is concerned
?????? Is not in World Cup euros and European cup
Cause there is no money involved
It’s only in premiership and top league football
It’s all about money ??????
 
That Firmino goal would have been ruled out anyway as the linesman had flagged. However , var is spoiling my game of football as a fan and I wish for it to be binned.
 
It's the football version of an unnecessary layer of red tape.
Like having to stop before shooting to check you have the correct documentation to score.
 
I stated vehemently I didnt want it. Its f*cking w*nk. Sky havent helped with their 6'437 camera angles they show either. I umderstand its good to have footy on telly for those who cannot go but prior to all of this sh*te we would have a moan ( normally a biased one) about the officials but as everyone has said we could cheer a goal without waiting for a poxy decision from a bit computer software.

How many have watched something at the match slated the ref for being a blind b*stard only to watch it on MotD and realised you were wrong & a stupid c*nt for having a go at the ref? By the way the answer is .every one of us.

Isn’t it done differently in this country as apposed to others. In other countries the referee has to go over to the screen to check, over here they take advice from someone making decisions in a room. They can go and watch it on a screen but tend to leave it to the people sitting hundred of miles away, it’s the idea of the referees leader.
 
I don't think it will be taken away.

It's being used in major national tournaments, and the European leagues.

If we were to bin it, I think the FA would see it as a step back, with everybody else still using it.

To improve it, I think it should only be used for offside offences, rather than handballs or fouls in the build up ect.
