Politics, really, Dave Sexton resented flair players in the main and wanted to change things. He then dropped Osssie and Hudson the game after and made them train with the reserves. The upshot of it Sexton never requested their contract talks with the chairman and when they found out they decided it was time to go. Always saw them as totally different midfield players, Gerrard was more dynamic box to box player. Whereas Frank was phenomenal as a goal scoring midfielder with 211 goals and 102 assists.
Oh yeah for sure, different styles and Gerrard was a superb player but if I had the choice of who I’d have wanted at Spurs it would’ve been Lampard. I just felt he was more consistent at what he done.
