I certainly don't see it as the negative that some do. Basically he's saying there's nothing concrete to announce now but that they're still working on getting the investment in. I get the impression it suggests they'll do it now if they can, but that there doesn't need to be a deadline or anything because it won't affect our plans for this season anyway. Also suggests they're still trying to convince the investors to come on board (saying they can't force them to spend)

The one thing that would make me feel better is if he confirmed MSD are still the ones we're talking to. His statement could refer to any type of investment from MSD to O'Briens

Issue is mate that gate receipts don’t even cover wages.

The sponsorship this year is actually the final year of the Betdaq deal, we won’t get anywhere near that now.

The Adidas kit deal is up, as are the parachute payments.

There’s pennies coming in through the TV deal as of next season, and we don’t have any saleable assets in the squad.

This isn’t negativity or defeatist, this is the very real situation that’s happening right now at the club.

Im sure without the Parachute payments this year there was already a massive hole in the income v expenditure.

Failure to go up this year would be absolutely catastrophic

The biggest problem is that regardless of what division we’re in next season, virtually every player we signed last season was signed on a 2 year deal so we’re going to have huge upheaval next summer - especially if it looks 50/50 in the run up as to whether we’re going up or not because the manager might not want to keep players in the championship but might if we are in L1.

Also the transfer window opens in a little over two months now and the stories about this takeover (or whatever they’re calling it now) from August said that talks had been ongoing for several months at that point. The longer it goes on the less certainty we are going to have about January signings and who we can or can’t afford.

IIRC someone at the Consett talk in asked a question about the takeover, which Donald answered without correcting him/her on the terminology used. Some people interpreted this as Donald agreeing with the word Takeover, but Donald never used that word himself.

If there's a series of issues it may take a dozen 'make or break' meetings.

If the first fails then it's all broken.

If there's a compromise, and agreement, you move onto the next issue .....

    ... just like Brexit.

    They do in this league.
Get shot of watmore and maybe macgeady and we are saving at 2m pa.
Too many are saying ross didnt have the right players. To me that is 6ollocks.
We have enough to get promoted now.
Organised, fit and motivated we should stroll this league as we should have and could have last season ( damn draws).
30k gates every week pays an awful lot of wages in this league. Again sheff utd, charlton, Barnsley and luton probably couldnt get 30k between them in this league.

Christ Smug, we've been on the Brexit roller coaster for over three years, couldn't you have compared our situation with something more palatable.<laugh>

MSD to invest (NOT take over).
This is a long term plan and means takeover could be based on a criterea that the club must achieve.

It may only be a couple of them on the board/investing instead of all three.

Don and Meth to stay on.

We are VERY near the L1 equivalent of FFP do will struggle to go wild with the squad. It will be sensible progression.

McClaren has applied but WILL NOT get the role.

As of yesterday it was all but done - must stress here it was NOT complete as of yesterday but fully expected to complete imminently.

The arrangement then essentially puts Don and Meth on trial as their every move will be scrutinised then if it materialises into a full blown takeover down the line they will have built up trust and proven themselves.

They would to any other club in this league mate, they do not to us.

There’s maintenance on the stadium and academy, there’s academy funding itself. Payments for club website and upkeep of club owned land around the stadium.

The gate receipts are bigger than other clubs, but if they are 5-6 times higher, our costs are 8-10 times.

We aren’t quite breaking even, Methven said it, and next season we drop £35 million parachute payment, the Betdaq money and the Adidas money.

Everything about the club was set up to be funded by PL money, those costs do not drop with the status of the club.

There’s approx £50million there from parachute, kit and sponsors alone.

    If we had 30,000, paying £25 a head, for 23 league games, that’s £17,250,000.

Of course, we don’t always get 30k, and season card holders and many others pay less per game.

It doesn’t help us one bit.

The clubs you mention had brilliant coaching and management. We have neither.

prehabs another decent poster over the road also confirming that he's had info saying that were scrapping around for investment of other sources now and not the Americans , so really it's only @Smug in Boots who is still positive on this

Suspect that's a holding statement or a let us down gently statement.
Either way if it was made today its quite poor to be honest and a little condescending
    Especially to end with
as things stand, they may or may not be investing in the club.
As if he wasn't really bothered either way

All the indications were that a good deal was a long way down the line to being done.
I think Something has gone on this week that has massively moved the goal posts.
They must be aware of the fans expectation that this is a big chance to turn the club around
But he's brushing it off as if its not a big deal.

Can see why some fans are getting frustrated.

Another who doesn't like the owners and isn't shy to admit it.

I am far from an expert but common sense tells me of your are looking for investment you would speak to all interested parties
