Remeber that they've also registered a company in the US too. This was always going to be slower than Donalds and also Shorts takeovers as they were both already set up in the UK.

Quite right, I'd forgotten that tbh.

As things stand absolutely nothing negative has come from the Americans.

The gossip I was told, from an impeccable source, was that the takeover is being discussed like the weather over there.

Well, nothing ground breaking at all came of this but this is what was said:

I decided to pretend to be a Charlton fan. Winkelman was back in the bar as promised after the game and I said well done on the win. He said thanks and I asked how their season was going. He said it's been a decent start but said they were disappointed to lose up at Sunderland and need to get back to picking up points in the league.

I took that as my opportunity to say I was a Charlton fan and that "we'd" beaten Sunderland in the play off and that a defeat there wasn't too bad because they'd be targeting promotion. I then said I'd even heard mention of some big takeover but said I didn't think it would happen. His reply was "oh no I get the impression it will happen, but yeah you'd fancy them to get up anyway". I tried pushing by saying "oh right, I'd just heard about it quite a while ago so assumed it must have stalled" and he said "you'd be amazed at how long these things can take if they're done properly". Then someone else started talking to him and I thought it would look suspicious if I tried banging on about Sunderland again.

So nowt exciting, and considering they'd have been there the day after the talk in with Donald it wasn't a surprise that he said it was still ongoing since that's what Donald said. Certainly didn't sound like it was in the balance or anything though, I presume it'll have been mentioned when he was up for the match with us so for him to be saying he thinks it'll happen is a bit of a positive. I deliberately said I didn't think it would happen just to see if he'd just go along with it but he didn't. So not much to report, but at least he didn't say "I was up there and Donald said it was ****ed" I suppose <laugh>

Can I firstly apologise for posting this on an unrelated thread.

It is not an attempt to derail this thread but (I feel) where I originally posted it won't get the number of views to potentially help solve the problem (whereas this thread is busy - for obvious reasons) so, hopefully, nobody will take offence.

https://www.not606.com/threads/i-t-help-needed.377836/

Many on here will be familiar with Salut! Sunderland and it appears they are having a problem with a hacker at the moment.

https://salutsunderland.com/2019/09...ox-from-an-ultimately-shaky-win-over-mk-dons/

"Readers will know we have been experiencing technical problems caused by a malicious redirection of certain of our pages to a scummy Turkish escort site. Salut! Sunderland is now more secure (at a hefty price) but neither that, nor as much self-help and professional cleansing as we have been able to do without further expenditure, has rid us of this Turkish blight.

When a page redirects to Istanbul – as happened with Sixer’s Sevens after the MK Dons match and this full report by our deputy editor Malcolm Dawson – we are excluded from the invaluable headline-grabbing newsnow.co.uk site and the number of readers plummets alarmingly.

Reposting, while irrtating for readers who have already seen the relevant item, has been known to help. So we are today republishing Malcolm’s outstanding analysis in the hope it may avoid the vulture-like attentions of our friends from the east and attract the audience it deserves.

A full professional clean-up to eliminate (maybe!) the bug would be too expensive so if anyone knows a SAFC-supporting IT wizard who would be happy to do it for a pittance, please say so …"

Anyone who can help please contact M. Salut (Colin Randall) at [email protected]

For anyone who hasn't visited the site, you should pop over and see what you think - its well written articles are a joy to read and no competition to not606.

Seems to be a lot of “na na na na na” “my Dad’s bigger than your Dad” on this thread now, can’t someone just post some more juicy rumours rather than declaring how good or bad anyone is or was?

Isn't that exactly what you've just done.

If people don't like the content post summat original, interesting or witty is my view ...
... it's a chat forum, not a reading room.

I remember Colin from the folk world many years ago, think he lives in France now. Very good site.

I don’t think that’s what I have done at all, I generally read rather than post, and as you May have noticed I didn’t point fingers or name names, I left school a long time ago but some of the chest puffing on here is a bit silly.
You’re also pretty quick with your “if you don’t like it..........” digs, sorry if my candid views don’t align with yours.

Sorry if that came across badly mate, I didn't mean any offence.

I'd say most people are going along with the flow but it's a transitional period tbh.
