There are some great posters on RTG, who are their own men and post their honest opinions.

They'll hopefully pop in here now and again for a decent chat about football in general and Sunderland in particular.

Surely that, and having a laugh, are what these forums are for.

The wums never seem to have much interest in any of those 3 things.
Ahem just men :emoticon-0106-cryin:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Hi I’ve come over from the Zoo A Love Supreme. Tried having a few serious football conversations on there but if you disagree with anyone you just get called a mag or told to f-off. I suggested that Lee Bowyer might be a better manager than Jack ross and got a warning off a mod who said I was just winding people up ! Anyway, Gum In Boots keep up the good work,i’m all ears for your takeover news!

I do hope Gum In Boots catches on for you @Smug in Boots :)

Majority are keyboard warriors mate any proper fan and bloke appreciates the info even if you've been taken for a ride you still said what you did in good faith.

That's good enough for me.

Hi all. I have also just joined the ranks of not606 having been an occasional poster on RTG. East Stand SC holder and member of Newcastle branch.

I also got sick of argumentative nature and just stopped posting. Not convinced most of them even go to matches to be honest. I know I can’t get a signal inside the stadium during a game to post to the RTG match thread.

They'd rather quit the board than admit I was right about a single thing mate. I've apologised more than anyone when I've been wrong.

There's a massive difference between me and the forum cowards.

I actually go to the matches, home & away, so I can't hide. My photo has been on both boards as well as my phone number and my usual place in the pub I always use for home games.

I'd repeat anything to anyone's face that I've ever posted and given these cowards an open invitation to do the same.

In over a decade only one person has ever showed up to confront me and he still posts on here.
If you mean me N it was not to confront you it was cos I like you.

I can't even get the thing to load up and just about get Whatsapp messages!

Cheers. He said to the other table that he'd be back here (pitchside bar it's called) after for a drink. I was going to have an early night but I've now decided that he's bound to have asked Donald something about the takeover, you meet another owner when this is going on you're going to ask. So I'm staking the place out. Hope they win so everyone is in a good mood and I'll see if I can get anything out of them. Don't let on that I'm a Sunderland fan, maybe pretend that I have a better job than I do, try and get them talking. I'm on it (and I'm on carlsberg all night so this might not go to plan). I'll report back later

Well, nothing ground breaking at all came of this but this is what was said:

I decided to pretend to be a Charlton fan. Winkelman was back in the bar as promised after the game and I said well done on the win. He said thanks and I asked how their season was going. He said it's been a decent start but said they were disappointed to lose up at Sunderland and need to get back to picking up points in the league.

I took that as my opportunity to say I was a Charlton fan and that "we'd" beaten Sunderland in the play off and that a defeat there wasn't too bad because they'd be targeting promotion. I then said I'd even heard mention of some big takeover but said I didn't think it would happen. His reply was "oh no I get the impression it will happen, but yeah you'd fancy them to get up anyway". I tried pushing by saying "oh right, I'd just heard about it quite a while ago so assumed it must have stalled" and he said "you'd be amazed at how long these things can take if they're done properly". Then someone else started talking to him and I thought it would look suspicious if I tried banging on about Sunderland again.

So nowt exciting, and considering they'd have been there the day after the talk in with Donald it wasn't a surprise that he said it was still ongoing since that's what Donald said. Certainly didn't sound like it was in the balance or anything though, I presume it'll have been mentioned when he was up for the match with us so for him to be saying he thinks it'll happen is a bit of a positive. I deliberately said I didn't think it would happen just to see if he'd just go along with it but he didn't. So not much to report, but at least he didn't say "I was up there and Donald said it was ****ed" I suppose <laugh>

Important to add mind, at no point did he say that anyone at Sunderland had spoken to him about it, he might have got the impression it'll happen from reading about it or from hearing about Donald's talk in or anything. It's purely my opinion that if you were there as a visiting director you'd be likely to ask.

I'm just happy to wait and see now, when it first came out, I was checking every forum for news. Not now. Nothing really...apart from the odd snippet..has come out of the club, so until that does, it will happen when it happens. I mentioned and someone else did...the Consett talk in was a huge error, should never have happened. Just fingers crossed something happens in the next 2 weeks as per SD statement.

The fact that there are so many fake goal posters (I mean honestly, why bother) suggests to me it is full of people who don't attend the matches. And a high percentage of said posters just want to wind people up, or argue about who is s***e and who is more s***e whilst watching the stream.

Hard to believe it's full of folks bickering I know...

What bothers me, but only slightly, is that we're supposed to be moving into a new place where we look professional and serious.

Leaking info to fanzines, twittering and talking about the takeover in a Blackhill club looks 3rd rate imo.

I really admire Donald, and have praised him highly, but the current atmosphere has stagnated imo.
I share your concern there. There seems to be an understanding that Donald would stay on after any takeover. I do wonder how his level of openness with fanzines and fans on twitter would be sustained with a new regime presumably looking to take the club beyond its current level.

Well done mate, football thrives on gossip so you've done nowt different to Donald at Consett.

One thing I will say is that, in reality, all we've really heard are positives.

The Americans have done due diligence, gone to the EFL, appeared at the SOL, registered at Companies House using the SOL address and even started following the club on social media.

I can see absolutely no basis for the pessimism displayed by some ...

... if this was newcastle I'm sure some people would be accepting that it was already done.

Surprisingly there hasn't been an announcement overnight.

A 44 year old man checking here and RTG as soon as he wakes up just in case they decided to announce it while I was asleep :emoticon-0126-nerd:
I do exactly the same, find out there's no news then get on with my day.

Remeber that they've also registered a company in the US too. This was always going to be slower than Donalds and Shorts takeovers as they were both already set up in the UK.
