Right guys, here goes!

There has been an awful lot of stuff on social media and other message boards ranging from the takeover being off, being ages away or happening immediately. It's bizarre how last night's event has been reported on so widely, and at times so wide of the mark with polar opposite opinions and what seems like a scramble to be ITK or shoot people down.

First question of the night was about the takeover. Stewart gave an absolute text book answer. People are interested, it's been reported in the media, there's been pictures in the papers etc. He went on to say MSD are huge, they want to look into everything and that these things take time. Some people have taken this as there are problems. It was clear that he couldn't comment or give any more detail than what I've said above due to the obvious legalities.

I don't know what people were expecting? An announcement of this magnitude was never going to be made at a Consett branch talk in.

I'd say he was playing things pretty cool, seemed confident but at the same time trying to give a bit of a "calm down" message. The comments Stewart made about other parties being interested was more so to do with previous due diligence and not the current work being undertaken. The previous due diligence had received excellent feedback, the club is in a healthy position and will attract interested parties as a result.

My own personal opinion is that this is very close to being announced but things are being done properly and there's no need to panic.

Said exactly the same mate and only posted as people were clearly either getting a wrong message or reading into things without the context of being there

Cracking night, thoroughly enjoyed it cheers to the branch for organising it

There was nothing negative about anything he said. His answer was textbook. I could have written it before he even started to speak. It was almost as obvious as Arsene Wenger not seeing something!
I hope so. The negativity is more that he suggests that it is not as far down the line as we thought and they haven't got as far deciding who is going to run it! I suppose my expectations of it being close is the disappointment.

I think he was just giving the "calm down lads, let's not get carried away" message as this process continues to move forwards. That wasn't a negative message, just a reality check.

There was nothing he said that worried me.

Did anyone ask about the performance of the manager, coaching staff and recruitment staff?

Thanks for your point of view Ned. A very balanced and straight forward summary of what could have been the only way the night will have gone in fairness.

Whatever happens Smug has said things in good faith and is a man who has Safc deep in his heart.
If it still happens, will people apologise to him? I doubt it. If it doesn't happen will people be delighted as they can win an internet argument.? I think so.
Bottom line is, no one has been lying, faith has been placed in people and the trust passed on.
I still believe it will happen.

I don't take everything he has posted as gospel but believe my command of the English language is good enough to differentiate between what he has said as a) What he knows as fact b) What he has been told by a trusted source c) What he has been told by a less reliable source and d) What he thinks will/might happen.

I find it quite sad that some others can't do the same and immediately see everything he has posted as fact then, invariably, are amongst the first to call him a liar.

Maybe they need to try progressing beyond Janet & John book 1!

More so the manager, nothing really on coaching and a little on recruitment.

Backing the manger, agrees the football hasn't been the best. Slow start this year, five wins on the belt, a couple of points from automatic promotion. Nothing controversial.

So we really know nothing more and nothing less than we did before the talk in but automatically some take that as a negative rather than a positive.

Aye, because he didn't say it's on, or just about done it's all a load of poop and certain people are full of it, we know how it works with a certain section of our fans Janey.

I'm not particularly worried by any of it but I am a bit disappointed.

If you take this takeover as being absolutely huge for the club and that we desperately want it to happen, then its natural there will be disappointment when in our world it goes from a position of announcement tomorrow to 1 to 2 weeks away and it might yet not even happen.

As I have said before and certainly Grumpy will agree these takeovers can change at the drop of a hat - they can be on/off/on and as the deal gets closer there is often further negotiations/changes - it is quite common. they can (and I hope not) fall through minutes before completion. I still feel (and that is all) this is quite a long way down the track - it doesn't mean stuff is still being ironed out. Information has been given in good faith, too many people are quick to shoot people down without knowing anything about the process.

Thank you for the reply.

And 'exclusively revealed by the Mail today <laugh>
After reading that report, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that MSD and SD released that as a nice **** you after the initial Kenyon report yesterday but made to 'look' like it's another report about their takeover. Could be a very well thought out tactic taken straight from the Sir Alex Ferguson school of mind games...

Went to work buzzing, then seen all the negativity flying around when I was on my break and ended up gutted, but Reading Neds post and Janeys posts with SD's tweets has cheered me up again. Just sounds like a lot of info has been twisted by WUMs.

Spot on! Nothing to be negative about. It's unbelievable the negative spin that has been put on things. Stewart has clearly put those tweets out to shut down the negative comments without giving anything away.
