Serious takeover talk

Given the amount on new members recently, I think many will think the same way given it just went on and on. It could have been nipped in the bud as it was contributing the square root of **** all to the forum and constantly spoiling the takeover threads. If anything it's now taken content away from RTG as most of the boring but possibly still interesting chit chat may well end up on here as those wanting to get away from the tedious trolling can now do so

Though we're not allowed to discuss the monorail here as it's 'boring now' but I'm still hopeful!

I saw this snippet of info in that link and it's a canny job for 3 years. Does anyone know how much Wolves had invested in them to get them up from the Championship?

Fosun value Wolves at £350million, a huge increase on the £45m they paid to take sole control when they were in the Championship three years ago.

I'm asking as I'm wondering just how much 'profit' they've made if they sold them for the quoted £350m. Even so, potentially in our case, is the money to be made from the increased value of the club worth the effort and ****e that comes with it for multi billionaires? As I've said elsewhere that after buying the club and investing then between say 4 'new' owners they'd make less than £50m each for a few seasons work. There's plenty of other revenues they could explore to make that kind of money and probably in less time and without the close scrutiny they will get with it being a football club.

What do you reckon @Smug in Boots? Do you reckon they're in it more for a legacy and 'feel good' factor helping not just a club but potentially those who also support it and the area they live in? I know that Michael Dell himself along with his wife have a foundaition that has given over £1b to causes. We're not a cause in the same way as they've supported kids worldwide but I've a feeling it's more than just a money making exercise for these fellas.

If they look to invest in regeneration around the club as well then maybe its a long term business plan,

I'm only guessing but from what I've read about them they aren't looking to make a quick buck.

 

I guess you've got to factor in a number of things in the valuation.

They purchased in for 45m and received 130m when they were promoted so basically they made 85m if the outgoings balanced the income over that period.

Since reaching the prem they've increased the value of the squad however wages etc have increased. Some of this will be offset by TV revenue, sponsorship and player sales.

I think they would have made bugger all profit. If we think that Ellis would have needed to sell us for over 100m if he wanted to cover his losses.

Aye he's probably mentioned it as he mentioned it elsewhere but I thought I'd poke him again to get an updated point of view. I'm also interested in knowing what Wolves have 'spent' getting to where they did last season.

This next bit is a little off subject but I may as well say it. It may be class for fans who go to away games but getting into Europe looks to be costing them at the moment. It's going to be an extra 12 games overall for Wolves after the remaining 5 group stage games and I don't think they'll even go through.

Burnley struggled last season winning just 2 of their first 15 league games when they were in the Europa league and they didn't even get to the group stages. Everton won 3 of their first 13 games the season before (and lost the first 5 of their 6 group games) and only started winning regularly once they were out of the Europa League from the back end of November.

It makes you wonder if all those extra games (including training/travelling) early season are worth the few million extra in revenue if it affects a team in the league like it seems to have done the last 3 seasons.

Not sure where we are with the take over talks or what their intentions are. What I do know is that we are already in a much better financial place than we were when Donald arrived, and could progress if we were all batting for the same side. Sadly, this now just seems a pipe-dream to me with the wounds well and truly reopened.
I only can hope that all the bad feeling doesn't put the new investors off.
