They've linked us wirh him, though I dont see it. Good player, but its a creative centre mid we're after. Also, dont see us stumping up the £40k a week he is on. He'd be a good aquisition if you can get him though. His links with parker must put you in pole position.
Cardiff Forums seem to think Arter maybe going back to them! Bournemouth have confirmed the Billing signing this evening so we will find out where Arter is going soon, to be honest there is no concrete links only that a lot of fans would like him, he’s available and he’s related to Scott Parker, Media cud just be guessing.
I posted above yours. Don't think he'll be heading our direction. Just paper talk because he was with us last season.
Latest whispers on twitter sphere is that central defender Chema will be announced before Saturday! This is possibly true as we have been linked to him all summer and we are all expecting a centre back or two to come in!
A twist in the Harry Arter saga , Bournemouth centre mid Dan Gosling injured in training out for up to 3 months!!
I suggested this guy previously but was not favored by Cottager. He has won the EPL and sat behind Mahrez who didn't do defending, he is out of contract but has done all his preseason with Leicester. Danny Simpson, RB and very good in my book.
Trying to keep up with the transfer roulette as on holiday in Spain but the strong rumours now going around are Besic offer accepted Sess to Spurs likely with Onamah part of deal Fulham trying for Spurs cb Vickers-Carter Hector off to Sheff Wed Forest bid for Chema Could be a busy day tomorrow
What a strange transfer window we have added quality in Knockeart Cavaleiro and Reid but at the end of the day we let in the most goals in Europe last season and have gone a whole summer transfer window without buying one defender! Rumours are Hector paperwork went through to late and he will be joining in January due to the Sess funds being confirmed last minute. I suppose Mawson being fit now they might see as good as a new signing. The way I see it our front line is premier league, our midfield is now championship strong and our defence is a massive ???
Don't understand why the Sessegnon funds would stop us getting Hector in before the deadline. Are we sailing close to the FFP line? Haven't really spent loads unless the loan fees are huge. We are reported to have loaned Seri out for £1.2m and Angussia £2m. Our defensive failings are more down to that we don't have wingers of the calibre of Davies & Duff who put in a shift to help the fullbacks defend. If they don't cure that and our disability to defend set pieces properly then we will again leak goals.
You need to think about the wages as well. If you're paying the full whack, Arter is on £40k a week. A big drop in income from last season, as for us. We hardly spent anything last season though. You went through your £100M and more. FFP is averaged over 3 years. I think there will be a few other clubs worrying about FFP if they dont go up this season.
Quite happy with our work this transfer window, if nitpicking I'd say I'd have liked a defender in, which tbf I think we tried yesterday but didn't quite get it done. We now have arguably the best front 3 in the league with some good options behind them in the pecking order, Reid could be a particularly useful signing. Plenty cover and options in the midfield now as well, I think Reed could surprise a few. I don't know enough about Onomah, obviously decent enough to come through at Spurs and be around the first team but is he coming in as a starter or is he a bench player? If hes a starter then he must be some player to get ahead of what we have.
Fabio, you sum it up very well, we have a very good squad. Possible addition of Hector come January too. Hopefully we can gel as a team and achieve our ambitions.
If we'd got Hector done in time, I'd be very happy (even though, once again, it's mostly loans - at least they all seem to have the option to buy). As it is, Cookie's comment about the respective strengths of the different parts of the team hits the nail on the head. An even bigger question mark than the defence is Scotty's ability to get the best out of everyone.
There looks to be a shift for many teams to be doing more loans (we have options to buy which is excellent) in lieu of outright purchase. I wonder whether this is being driven by FFP and question if the parameters of FFP are set correctly. What I know about FFP can be written on the edge of a stamp, so please forgive any ignorance.
The only issue in too many loans is that if you go up, you shell out a load of cash just to keep the squad together (as was the case with mitrovic - right decision by the way). You then have to shell out a load more cash to improve the squad for the prem (or not, as was our approach). Even then there's no guarantee..... Its a double edged sword. No right or wrong way. Unless you can chuck a huge amount of cash at it (like wolves), its going to be difficult, which is why 2 in 3 promoted sides come straight back down. Also, if you chuck cash at it and fail, the spectre of FFP raises its ugly head. The gap between the Premier League and Championship has become too wide financially and getting wider. Its almost a closed shop (with occasional visitors). Sad really.
