No idea why Maguire's fee is continually being held up against VVD as it didn't happen at the same time.

Lucas Hernandez (??) went for £68m this summer apparently. Similar to De Ligt.

... it all comes down to circumstances ... if you offered me De Ligt over Harry Maguire I'd take De Ligt ... but De Ligt had virtual control over his own transfer because he could have walked next summer for nowt ... United were never in the hunt for him because he wanted to join Juve ...

In marked contrast Leicester City held the main cards in the Maguire transfer..
£80 m was set as the asking price and it was met ....

... and for completeness, I'd also take De Ligt over VVD right now. .. that may just be me, but I think he is already just about as good, and his potential is unlimited <cheers>
