What I did once was to buy two half and half scarves, cut them in the middle and made a whole Saints scarf from the two halves. Thereby doing away with an unecessary journey to the Saints' store.

Half and halfs are for kids, if it keeps em quiet then let it go

On the other hand Saints/Inter I get. I still love that I went there and can say we wuz robbed (obvs winning would have been better

Half and half is originally a drink and often something pale mixed with Guiness
Originally this was Harp Lager, therefore achieving the impossible and making two crap drinks taste even worse and not even turning you into a mad person like the Snakebite do

... and before the Guiness police start, its a mass produced keg beer with a massive marketing force behind it, therefore somehow meaning its actually taken over as the national symbol of Ireland and usurped St Patrick's Day and turned it into St Crap Beer Day

... and if we ever play Real at the Bernabeu I may buy a half n half scarf, but I'll never drink a Guiness and Harp

How many marks shall we give this thread based on a) originality b) concepts generated

Feel free to add other categories as well. I give 5 for originality and 2.5 for concepts generated but this could increase depending where the discussion goes.

To be fair to half and halves, taking away half the Guinness in a pint glass and adding lager or cider, or sparkling wine [asti, champers, etc...] turns Guinness into a half-decent [geddit?] drink. In my opinion, it then gets halfway towards being a decent stout.

The last 2-3 years has opened my eyes to stout again. I was in the Wheatsheaf pub in Shedfield, about 3 years ago after a Ramblers' walk, where the pub has all the beers in casks behind the bar, and I had my first stout in donkey's years [probably the last one had been a Guinness]. And it was amazing. So I started seeking out the odd stout after that. And every one of them I have come across since has been nothing less than gorgeous. They are so, so, so much better than Guinness. You drink any one of them and you'll never go near Guinness again.

Here's one of the stouts I mentioned:

A few people may find this stout to be too much of a shock to the taste buds. I have likened it to having the most beautiful roasted barley and malt combination in the mouth, and then you shove half a bar of rich chocolate in there just as you start to swallow. You certainly do not need delicate sensitivities with this one. It delivers enormous amounts of flavour.

I love a Guinness with a double Tia Maria/Kahlua in. Tastes like a pint of draft chocolate.

Hmm, let me go and look it up [pause]. Jamaican Stout! No I haven't. What's that like?

OK, PM me. It's not fair to hijack this thread.
