Just seen Gazelle Twin with the BBC Concert Orchestra at City Hall

Amazing

Really don’t think tickets should have been free for all this weekend though. People get them then don’t go, or want to go but it’s ‘sold out’
Price at a couple of quid even and people will only get them when they really want to go

Not well advertised either

If we'd have had to pay for the tickets we'd have watched the tennis.

I thought the Gazelle Twin was a little weird, interesting but weird. I enjoyed Osanie by Klein. A ballet tribute to three brothers grandmother, although that wasn't obvious from the performance. You had to read the leaflet to find out. They were the only performances we could get tickets for it was definitely worth it.

Had tickets for the ballet brothers one but couldn’t make it
Lunaria in Hull Truck was interesting, but a bit avant garde for me
Not in seats but encouraged to wander round on the stage around the musicians who were in a circle in the middle with three people reading stuff at them from round the edge. Didn’t stay for Q&A and second performance

I do have tickets for Where to build in stone and Dream without a name tonight I could email if you or anyone wanted them

Thanks but I'm having a lazy night. The ballet brothers was definitely worth seeing. The second performance was the music without the dancers. It definitely needed both.

Actually Obi the fact you couldn’t get tickets was part of my point (maybe there’s a better solution to charging though)
Because the tickets were free and ‘sold out’ you couldn’t get more, so didn’t go to anything else.
However at every event I’ve been to (with possibly one exception) there has been plenty of free space due to people snapping up tickets for free and then not going.
My Mum goes to lots of these types of things and tries to get tickets but if she didn’t she’ll just turn up and blag her way in anyway. She’s gone to loads over the weekend without a ticket and got into all of them, but it’s a shame others (like you?) won’t have gone as it’s showing as sold out

Maybe they should only give tickets for 3/4 then never show anything as sold out?

A sensible suggestion. I got into a Lindisfarne concert at New Theatre in the 70s because they kept some tickets back for sale on the night.

I got in cheap so the money I saved was spent on alcohol. There's a lot worse music than Lindisfarne.
‘‘Twas a joke obi
Saw them a few times
Used to sneak in to hull city hall all the time
If you booted the doors on the side
They’d bounce the lock open then up the stairs and every man for himself as you charged through.
Remeber seeing the shadows and they were very good too.

So was my reply :) I only saw them the once although I saw Alan Hull play at the Centre Hotel just after Liverpool v Newcastle United. That was a fun night.

I saw Lindisfarne at City Hall, pretty sure they were supported by The Strawbs .... had to pay for a ticket anarl, Chazz. First time I've heard about the trick with the doors!

Only just seen this , I guess it's just me been out of the loop if all the tickets went anyway

It does annoy when people take free tickets and don't actually turn up though
Very common, and I do know that they actually give out more than capacity (or did during 2017) to allow for those who don’t use them.

It’s annoying though and I think if they only gave say 75% out and said limited tickets on a first come basis it would be better

No use for you though if you only find about things days after they happen ;)
