Remember another player pulling a last minute stunt like this, which is basically playing one club against another. DJ Campbell ? Held talks with City, had the medical, then taken for lunch with his agent by City officials on Princes Ave, nipped out for a smoke and pissed off to join someone else ( Blackburn) ? Never to be heard of again. If they don't want to play for us then we don't want them.
I make it a rule to never believe what a player says immediately after signing for a club, whether they’ve joined us or someone else. Nothing to see here, he’s just trotted out a standard phrase from the ‘just signed’ list of things to say.
On a positive note, this failed signing proves McCann can sign players he wants and that there's a little money available without having to sell players first. Im sure we've somebody else lined up. I do think we should loan a winger though, If he's only going to be backup to Bowen/Grosicki, bring in a loan or move someone up from the u23's. If Bowen/Grosicki are sold, then by all means buy a replacement.
Under previous regimes much of that is probably true. Under the current regime would you want to sign having spent time with Ehab and Darnbrough? Probably not.
