The England women are garnering quite a bit of support for the match against our side thanks to the bad behavior of midfielder Megan Rapinoe. She is largely the reason I haven't watched a single minute of USWNT play in cup competition, and don't plan to do so. Still, I know a lot of Americans who will be watching and rooting for England.

Maybe the England manager can put a dress on Joey Barton, so he can play and knock Rapinoe around a bit. That I would gladly watch.

Ironically, Rapinoe is quite popular in England.

I'm sure a lot of people don't think it's bad at all.

I haven't seen any of the USA matches. I didn't know who this person was. I googled. I can't find any 'bad' behaviour. Is it just the protesting and refusing to go to the White House (not bad behaviour) or am I missing something?

1) I'm pretty sure the teams don't play in dresses, nor is it compulsary for women to wear dresses, nor is it exclusively women who can wear dresses.

2) "knock Rapinoe around a bit"? Really? You know how wrong that is right?

Can I ask what she has done wrong?

Rapinoe is very brave taking the stance she has against Trump with the amount of mad gammons with guns over there looking for attention for themselves. Good luck to her, would be nice to see her play in England. Looking forward to the match tonight, Beth Mead is fresh and ready to go which could be a masterstroke from Neville, having the likes of her and Karen Carney completely fresh at this stage. Hope the Lionesses get an early goal to settle them down then the sky is the limit.

Don't mention Trump but do suggest making a nobhead with anger issues drag up and beat a woman for standing up what she believes in? Odd.

Have barely seen any of this World Cup. Will be watching tonight whilst comforting a dog after she's been spayed today. Looking forward to a good game.

So the only reason she might be slightly popular over here is something we can't discuss then ?
Personally I find her as annoying as most of the USA womens team and their fans.

A work colleague of my wife is good friends with Beth Mead, who is from sound East Cleveland stock. Beth texted her on Wednesday saying she has just had the surreal experience of having David Beckham asking her for an autograph!

As for Oedipus Tex - garbage like that post is what the "ignore" function was designed for.

It goes well beyond just protesting and refusing to go to the White House.

Our Ladies team frequently cough up possession around the halfway line.
Much like our Mens team.
However, our front three look capable of scoring every time we manage to get the ball up to them.
Ergo, it would make perfect sense to lump it at every opportunity.
Just for this one game. :-)

I think you need to tell us. The White House episode is all I've seen reported here.

If it were only about her dislike for our President, and refusal-in-advance for an anticipated invitation to the White House (and the presumptuousness thereof), there wouldn't be any controversy. We're used to athletes and other celebrities yammering on about their opinions. "Shut up and play" is usually the extent of the response. But she's made it clear she's extended her middle finger to the country as a whole, and for that she deserves the opprobrium, scorn, and contempt of her fellow countrymen.
