On the ongoing saga of David Turnbull of Motherwell I see his move to Celtic has collapsed. Apparently he needs immediate preventative knee surgery and will be out for an extended period. I'm sorry for the lad but perhaps we dropped out due to some inside knowledge and dodged a bullet.
I can't see us being stupid enough to let him go for a million less than what we paid for him. ... Surely?

Excellent news although Day's signing indicates a likely exit for Etheridge for a tidy sum of money leaving Day and Smithies to fight it out for the no. 1 slot. With 3 still to come (my money is on Holtby for 1) there will be others leaving shortly. Madine for 1 I hope. Tomlin looks to have made a real effort this summer. Will he be given a chance by Warnock? Could save us a lot of money if he comes good.

I seriously hope the arrival of Day doesnt mean Etheridge is going, for him just as much as us. He will be nothing but a bench warmer if it's the likes of Liverpool. Another season with us and see how it goes from there. Happy to get 3 signings down though!

Our squad at present is massive. With the Premiership squad less the loanees, Harris & Gunnar, there’s at least Tomlin, Damour, Madine, Connelly, Cox plus the 3 new signings. Paterson & Bamba will be fit in due course. Plus Warnock is talking of 3 more new players. Can we expect players leaving? Ethridge or Smithies or Brian Murphy? Damour, Connelly tomlin & Madine from the also rans and theres talk of interest in the other Murphy, Morrison & Manga. The sooner the squads sorted before their USA trip and Nice at home the better.
We need a squad of 26-28 players. 2 players for every position a 3rd keeper plus a couple utility players. There'll be injuries and players out of form, tiredness for those with international commitments, so you need some headroom. Certainly don't want the 40+ players Ole had, but don't want to leave us short. Definitely a few we need to move on with possibly one or two we'd like to keep. Take madine and Tomlin out probably Connolly and damour and were down to the 25 man prem squad, without arter, kadeem and camarasa which puts us down to 22. Add in the 3 newbies and back up to 25. 3 more newbies gives us 28. Lose 2 we'd like to keep, 26. So we probably need to shed 4.
