'North Ferriby FC have contacted City to try and get a pre-season game, but dates are full and doesn't look like this will happen, which is a shame as the money would be welcome'. - James Smailes

In any other club, they would be reaching out to help a footballing neighbour in times of trouble

Not our petty vindictive ****s... just ****ing GO!

Exactly. Though we may end up trying to sign Ferriby players!

Orient - decent London club, like Millwall, with their feet on the ground

Their fans' generosity at BP in the late 90s when we were going bust has not been forgotten

Checked out the tickets on Brianair, and you can a get return to Malaga from Manchester at under £80 inc taxes - a little bit more from Leeds Bradford, seems to be reasonable prioced accomodation in Puerto Banus and Marbs, bus from airport to Marbs isn't too expensive. Anyone heading over for a couple of days of sun and a footy match?

'With regards to the Marbella pre season game if you want it done cheap you can get hostels from 13 to 15 euros a night in a town called San Pedro which is a 10 minute walk to the stadium the game is at. I'd recommend you book San Pedro as it's a forgotten town to tourists so they book marbella or Puerto banus hotels and they spend a premium for that and your even closer to the ground! It's a nice place too full Spanish Town not many tourists and only a 5 min drive to Puerto banus where the night life and tourists are at' - Courtesy of John Michael Levesley (who lives in Marbella)

Really pleased it's back. Under 23's it maybe but there's always first team players looking for fitness.

GRANT MCCANN HAS BEEN DELIGHTED WITH THE RESPONSE OF HIS PLAYERS DURING THE OPENING DAYS OF PRE-SEASON TRAINING AND IS PLEASED WITH SOME OF THE RESULTS RETURNED FROM THE WORK DONE SO FAR.

The players have undergone a number of tests and taken part in their first couple of sessions on the grass during this first week of preparations for the new campaign, and the Tigers’ new Head Coach is impressed with what he has seen.

“It’s been a good few days and I’ve really enjoyed it,” said McCann.

“Getting to know all of the staff was obviously the first priority and then getting to chat with all of the players over the last few days has been really good.

“The players have come back in great shape and I think the staff have been pleasantly surprised because they are above their test results from last year – that is a really positive sign for me. We’ve had our first sessions out on the grass, too, and I was really pleased to see them out there.

“The reaction of the players has been pleasing. This is a very important part of the year because the boys will get their individual programmes to use for the rest of the season, so we need to see where they are in order to keep them fit, robust and ready for a Championship season. If we can keep players fit then we give ourselves the best chance.

“We’ll bring it up a bit more at the end of the week so that it’s a bit more difficult for them, and then going into next week they’ll see a little bit more about our style of play and how we’re going to play both individually and collectively.”

A busy first few days has also seen McCann bring in his first new signing with Matt Ingram joining from Queens Park Rangers to add further competition in the goalkeeping ranks.

“I’m really pleased to bring Matt in and he’s somebody that I’ve looked at over the last couple of years,” added McCann.

“We’ve got three or four good goalkeepers training here with Barry Richardson every day, so the competition is fierce. I’m looking forward to seeing them push each other to see who gets the shirt on the first day of the season.

“Competition for places is important all the way through. We’re assessing the group at the minute and looking to strengthen as we go on. We’ve also had six of our U23s training with us and I’ve been impressed with them, too. It’s been a really good few days.”
