You're quite right, for the reason I attempted to explain above askew. Pretty much the same at every ground - both teams complying with the unwritten "gentleman's" rule : "Let the home team kick towards the home "Kop End" in the second half. Essentially it maximized the enjoyment of both sets of supporters in the business end of a game to have their team attacking their own supporters behind the oppositions goalkeeper/defense. City attacking Bunkers/South stand second half at BP, same at KC. There was a brief period when English teams started getting into European competitions, and foreign teams didn't know the "gentleman's convention" where some nasty confrontations took place. The neutral foreign refs were obviously unaware of the "unwritten rule", but within a couple of seasons it was sorted out. It's now essentially a global convention almost always adhered to.
But the opposite has taken place over the last few years at KC. Be interesting next season with the Kop presumable been in the East
Ah yes. Forgot about the internal moves of home/away supporters at KC. In the ancient days at BP, if somehow the toss up ended contrary to City supporters being at the wrong end in the second half, everybody would move at half time ( in the days of Bunkers anyway). Don't think I've been to the KC since the re-arrangement of away fans took place.
Yeah But we don’t For the last two seasons we have played every single match towards the more vocal North Stand first half and therefore towards the family stand second half So either we’ve lost every toss for two seasons or we always choose the end that the away team choose ...which means we’re stupid
That has obviously escaped me. I hate to say it, perhaps this situation is yet another way the Allams are trying to demoralize our loyal supporters. Shame on them if that is true. Or was the repositioning of supporter groups due to police control issues ?
Shades of last seasons starting eleven apart from I think it happens by tradition, when I first went to City in the late fifties, there was no warm-up as such. Both teams came out and City always came to Bunkers end to have a kick about for a few minutes. The captain went to the middle, tossed up if he won he would kick off and stay where they were. Usually, if the away team won the toss, they would kick-off, so everyone stayed where they were.
It's odd isn't it. In modern sport, they put so much effort into finding those minute advantages and yet this area is just accepted when there clearly an opportunity. If only to unsettle the home team by breaking their routine.
I will be attending tomorrow night. No idea what hoops I will have to go through to get in. Club's problem not mine.
If that's true, it's shocking! Only 1 home friendly. Reasonably decent pricing at £9 adults, £6 seniors, £3 kids --- although why not just let them in for a quid? And pay on the gate? New manager and new signings. Wonder how many are put off thinking it's too much hassle these days getting tickets for our games? Especially those that can't get to the KC other than match days and / or don't want to queue pre-match to pick up their tickets. Of course, they can't make it too easy as we only have a 25k capacity.
Sorry but right now our fanbase is in a very poor state. I shall be at the KC tomorrow as will my mates but we have way too many willie nillies. We have a huge fan base of moaning minnies and not enough supporters who support.
Did you throw that grenade into the middle of the room on purpose as a wind-up or are you actually serious?
Good man, just enter that into the bestest fan ever data base and you will move up loads of places. Did any computer geek ever get the data base set up? It was / is a superb idea even if I say so myself.
I suspect a lot of people don't see the need to buy ahead for tonight. That said with the hols if we break 5k tonight I'll be surprised
If it's true that we've only sold 300 tickets so far, then we'll get nowhere near 5,000, we'll be lucky to get 1,000.
