I'm not sure he did, there's articles in the local rag about him writing off a large portion of the £93m debt, but it's still showing as being owed in their accounts.

As hard it is to believe the whole project cost is a touch over £20m.
Presumably, it won't lose too much value also, if he wanted to realise it after completion, so its not really a £20m risk.
Presumaby paid on secured funding though, so same thing I guess.
