Yeah and you could argue that for the money the club charges we should be seeing a lot better than the tripe we are watching a lot of the time. Swings and roundabouts.

I was just saying that the FA cup shouldn't be used to judge our proformances, because we rarely put out more that a third-choice team.

Then you could actually watch them play. Better yet, rather than be a smart ass you can put your neck out and tell me that this United team, whom you have such faith in will finish above Chelsea and Chelsea will not finish even a single point closer to United than they are right now. Have faith.

Chelsea will probably close the gap a bit as they are a good team but yes i believe we will win the title. Stuck my neck out enough for you?

My point is, one marquee signing and we would be a different team.
Inter Milan's Midfield (Minus Sneijder), I do not believe is great, but put Sneijder in there and suddenly they can unlock anyone.

Yes It's obvious that we are lacking quality in midfield. But not to the extent that your are suggesting.

Wow, how did we end up with fan's like Gooner's?
We are poor, we are poor by starting the season better than saf EVER has?. How arrogant are we that whilst beating our own record's we should be SO much better than anyone else we shouldn't lose all season.
How disrespectful is this to Wolves? How is this not being sore loser's?
What side goes away and play's flowing, dominant football in EVERY game?

Our midfield isn't great. Carrick 3 years ago was sublime. So shall we sell him for £6m or so and see him do brilliantly at Sunderland etc? Will you then say "We should never have sold him?"?.

I know, lets pay £40m for a player that will immediately be under great pressure to turn us completely around. I mean Imagine if we spent £40m and we bought a midfielder good enough to help us go 24 games unbeaten!!!!.
I don't actually see in this thread WHO exactly we are meant to buy, i can only see one sensible suggestion of Modric, who Spurs would rape us for.
I did actually think we should have taken Kranjcar on loan.

And which midfield is great? Apart from Spurs Modric/VDV?
    Chelsea Lampard/Essien/Mikel
    Arsenal Fabregas and Song? seriously?

FFS Grow up. Man Up. Well done Wolves you undone the team at the top and ended their unbeaten run.

No actually, not enough. If we are aiming to be the best, surely we should be looking to make a statement and be the strongest team between now and when the season ends. Why shouldn't we? We're better right? All (admittedly poor) mind games aside, we aren't strong, we haven't invested enough and if Chelsea don't win it, we have struck it lucky, as they will eat away at that lead til the end. Certainly not a position of strength regardless.

Its about being the best over the season and getting the most points. Its very unrealistic to expect us to pull away all of the time. Lets not forget the now "unbeatable" Chelsea were not looking so hot one month ago.

So we're top of the league and in the later stages of the Champions League but our midfield can't compete? Our midfield isn't "bollocks" we are a Luka Modric-style player short, the way you're going on you'd think we needed 4-5 new midfielders at the club which just isn't going to happen, we bossed City and Arsenal this season in two of our biggest tests, but my issue isn't so much with fans slaging of the midfiled it's our own support saying that we're no where near a title winning team after our first league defeat since April, if we win next win everyone will be harping on about how good we are, then then next time we lose, we're **** again, it's just a ridiculous mentality to have.

We've been discussing this all night and some of us have been discussing it for a lot longer besides. Our midfield is crap. it is, it really is. it's dreadful. Have you watched us this season? Would you argue? No, they're crap. So, off the high horse you go and then let's discuss our problems, starting with our midfield, which is crap. If you disagree with me, start with the first impressive away performance this season and carry on form there.
PS. I don't appreciate you jumping in here with a rant, having not bothered to read the previous comments.

We dont play it ANY game away.

Eh? Some payers do decline you know. And yes, we should be selling him come the summer, he should be first choice this year because their is no one else but on the whole he should go. He is a 19 million pound midfeilder and is one of the biggest underacheivers in the team. He is gone backwards so much since 08/09. And doing brilliantly at a club like sunderland is all well and good, but at utd we should expect a bit more.

We had the ****ing easiest champions league group we have had for years. Rangers who are bloody awful, valencia are no more than a two bob average side and were extremely fortunate to beat them, hwo many points did they finish off the big two last year? And bursapor, probably the worst team in the history of the champions league.

No I won't. Our midfield will still be ****. Feel free to read my earlier posts on both forums. I've always said our midfield is ****, because it is. We have good attackers and good defenders but the best our midfield will ever do is serve as a barrier or a bridge for a limited period of time because that is all they are asked to do, and there is good reason for that.

And yes, my gripe is purely with the midfield. It isn't good enough. But we won't strengthen that area but that goes onto a different gripe that no one must speak of.

Here we go again, How is the midfield of the team top of the league crap?
We are short of a creative, possesion keeping Centre Mid. Other than that we have the personel in place.
If scholes was 25 right now, and was playing every game we would look a different side.
So we need to replace him.
Fair enough, it is not easy to replace a player like Scholes.
But we are going to do it.

Some OTT comments in this thread. The title is between Arsenal & United. Chelsea will not win the league, I will bet my house on that. United's midfield is awful but they can still grind out results. the problem today is they came up against a team that matched them for graft and work rate and got unlucky. i have seen many people seeing that this was united's worse performance of the season. well that is complete and utter bollox. how you won at blackpool i do no understand and you should have lost at west brom too. the fact is united have a winning mentality instilled in their squad that makes up for their technical defficiencies (whereas arseanl have plenty of technique but a **** defeatist mentality). complete overreaction imo, fletcher is a good player but is in awful form, anderson is a good player but for whatever reason does not get a consistent run in the team. carrick is **** on the ball but off it he is a good player and park is a lot better than people give him credit for. giggs is past it, scholes is past it (understandedly) and valencia will not contribute this season but nani is the best winger in the league. united do not have a midfield as good as arsenal or chelsea but they make up for it in other departments which is why they are top of the league. i have been saying it all along, no team in this league is special and whoever wins the league will be the best of a bad bunch. i said that 79 points would win the league this season and i was laughed at but mark my words the eventual champions of this league will score 81 points at the highest and the reason for that is that nobody in this league is special.
