It’s nothing to do with him being a Tory Col. Churchill made some huge mistakes during his career - Gallipoli, the General Strike, use of soldiers to break the strike in South Wales in 1910, the Sydney Street siege, his consistent failure to understand Gandhi, the Bengal Famine etc etc. His (highly contradictory) views on race and non Christian religions I would put down to the times, he was essentially a Victorian aristocrat. But despite errors of judgement, no one could ever question his essential integrity. There are many politicians that I intensely disliked, Thatcher amongst them, but would never question their integrity. I would question Tony Blair’s integrity and Harold Wilson’s. It’s not a party political, or morality, thing. Johnson has zero integrity. I’m sure that plenty of people who don’t actually like him will vote for him on the same grounds you will, because they think he will deliver Brexit. Plus of course those standing against him both within the Tory Party and later on from other parties are truly pathetic. I hope Johnson delivers what you want and we can all move on, but I think it’s very sad that he is the best that the Tory party can find. And don’t get me started on Labour..... I hope Hunt sacrifices his chance of a cabinet position and fights really dirty in this contest.
The next uk prime minister is accused of unlawfully signing off these deals, carrying out no assessment as to their purpose, same for the outgoing pm, and hunt and fox. Corrupt to the core.
We have been guilty of this through all colour governments to be fair. We are a corrupt country, we reward failure at the top level, from bankers to football managers and punish failure at the lowest level, from homeless to disabled. Democracy has been non existent since I can remember so why people get on their high horse about it now baffles me. The next PM isn't democratically elected, neither was the one before, neither was Brown for labour. Voters generally vote on policies of parties that are then torn up once power is gained. We live in a matrix, governed by ****wits with only ambition for their personal gain!

It was supposed to mean that Johnson faces no coherent, talented opposition from within his own party or from other parties. Is it that poorly written? He’s getting a free ride. I’m hoping that first Hunt, and after he loses, Corbyn, whoever heads up the Lib Dem’s, that bloke from the SNP etc, take every opportunity to take the gloves off and go for deeply personal, dirty, US style attacks on Johnson’s character. Otherwise I will be relying on Denis Skinner.
Yes, I get it now, probably just me being dense. Hard to see Corbyn giving Johnson a hard time, but there will be plenty who will - in and out of parliament. I'm quite looking forward to it.

All fair enough mate. I still stand by what I see and that is the vast majority of those of a liberal left or left/far left persuation simply will not entertain any opinion that differs from theirs, especially when it's from a Tory. Tories are reviled just because they are a Tory, with a hatred and sneering "I'm right" attitude. It's quite repulsive to witness at times. By the way, I never said I'd vote for Boris. I'll struggle to vote for any of these twats in a GE.

Except that a lot of the **** is already out there. The public become inured to it. So unless he's murdered or raped someone, the public yawn and move on. If he delivers a decent Brexit, even if he has to go through a GE to do it, his legacy is assured and no one will remember May
When May was trying to push through her poor deal at Chequers, Boris walked. He was in the wilderness. Gove thought he was playing a clever game at being the loyal one, who would, despite being a Brexiteer, help May push on with her unworkable compromise that satisfied nobody. Gove has effectively gone down with May's sinking ship. He got his tactics wrong.
If he delivers the brexit as he says then all those voting for him will be absolutely fine and pleased with his decision. If he does his classic 180 because he thinks a no deal brexit will leave a bad legacy (if he thinks this) then brexiters will have got the pm they deserve as he's shown he has absolutely zero integrity and will just say things without acting on them
Correct. Although it depends where you think gove is using tactics to become pm (playing the game of thrones) out whether you think he was trying to do the best for the country (in his mind)
I meant more over how he performs in office. He's known for his lack of attention to detail and inability to master a brief. His minders have had to lock him away during the leadership process, but he can't hide when he's PM. Do you think there's any hope of him of achieving Brexit by 31/10 as he promised the ERG? If not, there'll be a GE and the public will have had a good chance to see how he performs. He may surprise, but I doubt it.
