I worked with Chris Neddler for a while, and it didn't surprise me the actions he took, as he had very little interest in Hull City, even when his father was at the helm.
Why did he keep it John?
No one else interested and he couldn’t offload it?
Tax purposes?
Always claimed he did the job for nothing. When he did nothing of the sort. Even sacked the club secretary and did that job himself.
I'm sure there are others on here who can verify how much he claimed he was owed and received when the club was finally sold.
He had a difficult job to do at the time because the club were at rock bottom, partly down to the appalling way it had been managed and under invested in. But for me the lowest trick was selling the club name plate and then trying to pass off a plastic replica in its place. No other club had stooped so low.
It seems it was Tom Wilson who did that (out of desperation, it should be added). As for why Needler kept the club, from what I could ascertain it was simply seen as a family possession. Harold's wife appears to have been very influential behind the scenes - particularly when it comes to the famous non-voting shares - for a long time after Harold's death and I think that Christopher felt obliged to continue their work on behalf of the family. Sadly that led to one of the greatest names in the club's history being shared with one of the most notorious. I certainly see Chris Needler as a greater villain than Martin Fish or Terry Dolan from that time.
Jesus wept, are you sure? You don't need to look at other clubs for stooping lower, just stick with City. I was fuming about the nameplate back in the day, but the Allams have done a zillion times worse, repeatedly.
There were Needler Out protests against Christopher Needler pre-receivership including the coffin march however the Don Robinson era followed which stopped that. Its true when we reached rock bottom in the mid 90's Fish then took the brunt but like the Allam's he was disrespectful to what was the remaining 3K hardcore support and legends like banning Wagstaff and Chilton from the Boothferry Park 50th birthday etc. There were similarities with Fish and the Allam's disrespect of supporters no doubt, yet both have defenders amongst our fans.
All very true. And I don't think this discussion is quite defending Fish per se, just adding a bit of shade to the debate. Fish made mistakes and did some very poor things, which we've both documented in here, and which are documented in the book, but he was in a very different position to the Allams. I don't think he comes close to being as villainous (and I think he took far more flak on a personal level).

The selling of the club name plate was a disgrace, not only that but they tried to hide that they had actually sold it and replaced it with a plastic replica, then prevented fans from standing in the Well so they couldn't get a good look at it.
No other club stooped to those depths by selling their name plates and those that were lucky enough to have be presented with them all kept and treasured them except us. That was my point.

Easy, instead of tying your rope to a tree, tie it to a winch, press the green button and wind it in.
I think there was some sentimentality, his fathers baby so to speak, and possibly tax reason as you say, losses could be offset again group profits.
I'll need to know where you live, but it might be a struggle as it's all done through Amazon and I don't hold any at the moment. I'll DM you.
In other news, sales figures of The Decade have now passed 1,000. I'd been hoping to hit that mark by Christmas, so to reach it so early is something I'm delighted with. If one day I beat the 1,775 we got in that match in the 1990s against Torquay I'll be secretly happy, but it's not quite the same sort of landmark.

I'm bloody loving it, and I'm not a massive reader and usually get bored easy - even things I knew happened it's just great getting reminded and hearing people's views- getting all the emotions of a football match as if it was happening now - why did Brian Little get rid of so many charachters at once , why did Adam Pearson want to Bring Brabin Back then Listen to Billy Russell if he never intended on hiring him full time , happened 18 years ago yet I let that ruin an afternoon of my holiday yesterday
