Can I interrupt who’s Stephen toast? I’ve just looked at his profile and he’s been a member for years but this is the first time Ive seen him
This thread No point in really making another post, as someone who only started going to City in 1999 I might as well be on everyone's ignore list, my irrelevance knows no bounds. Ps. Don't worry Sterling, I know what you're on about. Conker was an alright game, though I did prefer Goldeneye when I was blasting the N64.
Sorry but that' utter bollocks, mid seventies I went to Leo Schultz on OPE, as far as I can recall there wasn't a single openly gay person or Black person in a school of 1500 pupils, so we went home and watched love thy neighbour or Alf Garnett and laughed, because that's how things were, I didn't fancy at 15 years old parading around Queens Gardens with a placard about somethhing I wasn't aware of.
In my opinion... it’s ****ing lovely but goes through me like a boiling hot knife through butter.... turns everything to water.....
Of course there wasn't, that's exactly the point! What, pray tell, happened to openly gay boys at schools in your day, eh? You're telling me you weren't aware of homosexuality, or that you couldn't connect the dots and wonder WHY there weren't any openly gay people? 'That's how things were'. A ****ing shambles, is what it was and the fact that you lot (barring a small minority who had balls) didn't bat an eyelid is exactly why it's caused so many problems over the last few decades. Had people taken a stand like they do today, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much **** as there is now.
"So as a teen watching a 30 min comedy ITV prog on a b/w set what are my ****ing options ?" A) Look at homosexuality like some sort of Carry On Film and pretend it'll all end up alright, bury your head in the sand and go about life as normal, wilfully ignorant of what's going on. B) Realising that gay people were getting a rough deal and that efforts should be made to curtail that abuse. Then make an effort, regardless of who or where you are because it's the right thing to do. C) Join in with the 'jokes' and other **** because if you didn't, people would consider you 'queer' and you'd lose your social standing. Those were the options. Which one did you choose?
Protest? Rally? Stand up for these people? Make an effort to treat them like human beings? Some small gesture that showed you weren't in favour of it? This seemingly 'I was helpless' tactic isn't doing you any favours.
