Nicked from FB- looks like he getting ready to do one: Oh dear...Caption from the HDM on the present position of Adkins contract talks. "It is understood alternative options to replace Adkins have tentatively been discussed by the City board, who have stressed that the offer made to the current head coach is one they are unwilling to improve." Down to Adkins now to see his hand or fold and leave the table.
I've got to say, I expected Nige to have options of his own. Offers from other clubs I mean. At this stage, it seems to me that maybe he hasn't. I'd be surprised, but football's a funny old game and if he isn't offered another position, then he may well stay.
There aren't that many jobs going in the Championship I think that's the main issue. There tends to be quite a lot of turnover 3/4 months into the season. He is maybe thinking do I take a risk hoping a job comes up or just take the City job and hope he can work miracles again.
He would have to have been bitten by a ****ing mad monkey if he accepts a new contract that he does not actually think is right. City is just not that good a job. I don’t think he will sign and if I was him I would wait til the type of job I wanted came around. His stock is high enough at the moment to risk it.
Depends on how much he has in his piggy bank ? No future employee would deny him the need to feed his family, so he would have no worries accepting HCAFC as a stop-gap until something better came along. Just has to have a contract with City giving him an out. Possible the Allams would not accept such a clause I suppose.
Is his stock that high? I like nige but where is there to go? The clubs who finished above us ? Can't see it. The clubs below us? Who? Most of them are in a mess
Well, it's do or die week as far as the managerial situation is concerned according to the HDM. It looks as if we will find out one way or the other this week. The Allam's aren't moving, which is typical of them, so it really does come down to whether Nigel will accept it or not. Frankly, if he is OK financially having tried to get them to compromise, which they clearly have not, then I would tell them to stick it.
He's a likeable guy who has done well in his time with us given the limited resources available to him. He must fear another 'Reading debacle' and a looming exit door if he has very little to work with, hence his posturing and attempt to get the purse strings loosened. However what happened in January should tell him everything he needs to know about our two clowns. I'm sure the Allams mantra is the players have to take pay cuts, and new ones coming in have to take lower salaries, you need to lead by example Nigel! End of negotiations! I'm sure any offer to Nige will be heavily loaded with incentives, the problem being he doesn't feel they are attainable. If he goes which is looking more likely by the day (to do otherwise with the delay suggests he has accepted a big compromise) the queue waiting for an interview will not be a small one and the Allams are aware of that! All in all another mess up of master proportions!
Likewise Chazz. I have grown to like him too. I think him and Crosby are as good as we could hope for at present. I also think that chairmen will have seen how well he has done and how he has conducted himself in his job here. He also appears pretty loyal to his employers. Lower end championship club or indeed a decent L1 prospect might well be taking a strong look at him and he could easily take that against the pile of bullshit that lies ahead from Allam.
I didn’t grow to like him I liked him from the off. He’s adecentt bloke. Like who and why would he? Name a club?
Middlesbrough? Supportive board, better squad, probably a better salary. Not working for the Allams. The last one on its own is good enough reason for me.
