I think that the next GE will have the lowest ever turnout, but the politicians and the media will just say that its because people are undecided. What I would like to see, instead of not voting at all, is that throughout the country those who feel that way should turn up and write across the ballot paper (everyone the same) something along the lines of ''I spoil this voting paper because I have no faith or trust in our politicians or our democracy'' The count of spoilt papers should then be announced with the results

When her intended resignation was announced the BBC ran a piece showing her when she was appointed.

The job has aged her, and I'm not surprised.
Whatever else, nobody can fault her effort.

However, on the 'what if' scenario, I wonder what the outcome might have been had she not called the last General Election.
She had an overall majority, so it wouldn't have been necessary to bow down to the Ulster Unionists.
At least she would have had a better chance.

Hindsight has always been 20/20 vision though.

She made plenty of mistakes and calling that general election was one of them. I think she was genuinely committed to doing what she felt was right for the country and really, that is all you can ask. She is an awkward character, clearly not comfortable in a lot of the situations she was required to be in but I always thought she was genuine and honest. Yet she is made out in some quarters to be some kind of villain- do people not see the multitude of much more odious characters currently prominent in the political world?

I'm expecting our three local MP's to spin the NE's Brexit vote to being a vote in support of a second referendum leading to a remain.

I'm NOT expecting any of them to come out with, 'OK, we have lost our Party seats in the local and European Elections, we have ears, we hear what the people are saying, we will change our stance'.

IF we ever manage to get away from The EU, whoever can claim responsibility can have my vote.
Those who oppose it can forget it, forever.

The Brexit Party has won 9 out of the 10 regional results to come in so far. That speaks volumes, imo.

The Conservatives and maybe with the help of Labour now need to find a way to get us out of the EU in October or these results will be replicated in a GE and we'll have Nigel Farage as PM.

I think these results might just give them all a kick up the backside that they needed.

There are different ways to spin it, depending on where you sit.

Cumulating results from the parties who have a clear pro brexit or new referendum stance, pro remain groups got the most votes.

The only concrete conclusion that can be drawn is that everyone is fed up with labour and the conservatives

    https://www.standard.co.uk/news/pol...negotiations-and-go-for-no-deal-a4157211.html

In his second extraordinary intervention into British politics ahead of this week's state visit, the US president suggested the UK should "walk away" from talks and refuse to pay the £39 billion divorce bill if its requests are not met.

He told the paper: "If I were them I wouldn't pay 50 billion dollars. That is me. I would not pay, that is a tremendous number."

Meanwhile Mr Trump vowed to "go all out" to secure a free trade deal between the UK and US within months of Britain leaving the EU

Didn’t Trump’s advice start off by saying Brexit would be disastrous and the Uk would be back of the queue for trading with US ?

Donald has the balls to stand up and say what he thinks. Like him or loathe him he won't let no fekker walk over American values, and we in Britain need a leader with balls to tell all these snowflakes to feck off. Reminds me of my old colonel we would follow him anywhere

Think I fall into the "Loathe him" category. He is a lying, racist mysogynystic creep who has no place in world politics. I agree he won't let people walk all him but somewhere between that and diplomacy would be much more beneficial than his blitzkrieg approach to everything. I actually know a guy over here who is employed by him...seriously, the stories I here are astounding.. he is absolutely not a fit and proper person to run the most powerful county in the world.

Thankfully I don't eat chicken now unless it's from one of the lads at the allotment. I wouldn't fancy a mouthful of your chlorinated chicken with my vegetables.
