It doesn't look as if Nigel will be signing from what AA has had say. I checked on Yeovil's News now sight and there doesn't seem to be much mention of Tony Pennock still in the running for the manager's job there.

I mentioned before, maybe Tony Pennock will be offered the job, as he would be a cheap option as far as the Allam's are concerned?

Hull City head coach Nigel Adkins has held another round of contract talks with Assem and Ehab Allam in an attempt to finally resolve his long-term future at the KCOM Stadium.

Adkins is due to see his current deal expire in less than six weeks and is yet to reach an agreement after City’s offer of an extension was first tabled at the end of March.

That has left a lingering question mark over who will lead the Tigers into 2019-20 but negotiations between Adkins and the Allam family remain ongoing.

It is understood City’s head coach met with the club’s owners yesterday, with a willingness from both sides to strike a deal that would retain an element of stability this summer.

The latest talks are said to have been positive and there is a cautious optimism that Adkins will eventually stay on as the head coach of a team he guided to a respectable 13th place finish in the Championship this season.

Hull City still need five per cent of members to vote if ticket ballot is to be validated
Perhaps tellingly, neither Adkins nor the Allams are currently considering the alternatives if they were to part company this summer.

Adkins has shown no interest in the vacancies around the Championship, with Middlesbrough, Swansea and West Brom all looking for a new boss ahead of next season, while Assem and Ehab Allam continue to hope there will not be a need to search for the eighth manager of their reign.

Allam snr repeated that message on the eve of meeting Adkins. “We want Nigel to stay, he knows that.”

The sticking point continues to be the long-term security sought by Adkins.

The 53-year-old has no issues with the financial terms being offered by the Tigers or the limited budget that will be made available for reinforcements, but he does want guarantees that he will be given the chance to build in what promises to be a tough season at the KCOM Stadium.

Adkins, supported by his long-standing assistant Andy Crosby, has already had a positive impact during his 18 months in charge of City.

Having guided the club clear of relegation trouble when succeeding Leonid Slutsky in December 2017, he went on to launch an unlikely play-off push at the midway point of last season.

That pursuit eventually fell short in the closing weeks of the campaign but Adkins has always maintained that he would like to continue a long-term project.

The need to finally remove the uncertainty is growing with City due to begin pre-season training in just over a month.

Contract talks with Fraizer Campbell and David Marshall, who both see their current deals expire on June 30, have been placed on hold until Adkins’ future has been sorted, while player recruitment cannot be stepped up before it is clear who will be City’s head coach next season.

Put this story with the one on the £500,000 defender we can’t afford and we can see the crux of the matter. The transfer budget will be that pitifully short of what Nigel needs to be competitive that he is getting a relegation feeling already. He is clearly not fully committed to the Assam dream, ‘ No cheque book, no cry’. I can’t see why he doesn't tell him to do one. He won’t get a premier job but his stock should be good enough for a championship, league one position. There must be easier jobs than working with those two clowns.

I wonder if one of the reasons he's stalling is to see how this vote turns out? You can tell he's far from happy playing in front of such sparse crowds at home.

I suspect he is biding his time until his cv promotes an offer from another Championship club tbh. He has been working with one hand tied behind his back .. this season he will be asked to carry on without any arms .. reminds me of the Monty python sketch tbh .. no manager in their right mind would work in these conditions

I suspect we might get a decision from Nigel Tuesday, he will be mulling things over this long weekend? I think he knows he needs to make a decision fairly quickly.

I heard he is upset at the way the loud minority treat the Allams and doesn't feel that he can continue to work for such an unappreciative set of fans.

I think it could be the ambition of the club and the length of the contract being offered
