The echo spread is a funny one - fans criticise him for it by why would he bother doing it if he didn't care for the club?
-------------------

Egotistical.
I think if someone is determined enough to dislike someone, they will find a way to make everything they do look bad. Such as seeing someone having the humility to acknowledge things ended badly and actually trying to explain himself to put things right being seen as egotistical for example.

But anyway, I'm not so bothered about Virgil or Lovren either tbh, they can win what they want once that horrendous little ****cunt leaves <ok>

For what it's worth ML I agree about the echo thing, damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Seems to be pretty pointless defending him in this case. Some have already made their mind up it seems!

Funny that these strong opinions are probably based on what the barman at the local pub told them! Not that you should take my word for it as I am a complete stranger online, and for all you know am making it all up!

All I will say is fans don't know half of what went on and Lallana genuinely cares about Saints; well at least he did. Might have changed now that some fans treat him like the devil.

"I've been at the Club since I was 12 and - being honest - I can only see my future lying with Southampton Football Club," he added.

"If someone was to say that I'd end my career playing for Southampton in the Premier League then I'd snap your hand off for it."

Less than a year before he began to force his move <ok>

Well that in itself shows what I mean. The whole "refused to ever play for Saints again" is just not true.

As for him saying he wants to move to Liverpool... god forbid a footballer actually be honest with fans! Would you have preferred a generic "I'm just focused on Southampton blah blah" and then he leaves a week later?

You can't go saying you want to sign for another team whilst under contract to another. He was happy enough to sign the contract, so he can at least keep his trap shut until the deal was complete.

Blokes an utter helmet.

My last penny Adam.

I met him in B'mouth with a few mates, and he seemed to really enjoy the attention. But the one thing that struck me was how well received with the locals he was as well. The boy was king.
He made a sad hash of that.

As I've said before, he genuinely could/would have had Le Tiss like status down here. Sad.

60 goals in about 250 matches as an AM/Winger, back to back promotions, countless assists for Rickie with their almost telepathic understanding on the pitch, cost us nothing and gained us £25m towards finishing Staplewood makes him a Saints legend personally.
I don't care too much about all the tittle tattle and personal stuff as the above overrides it IMO, although I accept that he probably let himself down a bit and that still rankles with some fans.

He gave us some fantastic entertainment and value for money when he was here too.

Maybe he meant he will come back after playing for a big club for a bit?

I also hope you like vvd and lovren. Helped uou to one of your highest league places, made your defences rock solid and helped net the club some fantastic profits

Yep, no trip to the San Siro or cup final without Virgil...
