Consider this. Since 2004 European Union law has allowed governments to control movements of EU citizens as follows: EU citizens may freely circulate for three months and then require them, should they want to stay longer, to show they are working (employed or self-employed), a registered student or have sufficient resources (pension, savings) to support themselves and comprehensive sickness insurance by way of a valid European health insurance card or have private health insurance. The UK is one of the few governments that has not implemented this. http://www.europarl.europa.eu/factsheets/en/sheet/41/free-movement-of-workers Jab
Thanks Jab....that I understand. I was merely saying that a lot of people were saying that is their main reason for there Brexit vote. Or so I understand.......amongst other reasons I suppose. There was nobody more surprised than the main parties on the referendum result.
I don't think "others will too", I have one Dutch friend who wants his guilders back, no others amongst our multinational friends and acquaintances would consider leaving. https://www.oddschecker.com/politics/european-politics/next-country-to-leave-eu Italy 2 Greece 4 Czech Republic 5 Poland 5 Sweden 10 Jab
You do realise that freedom of movement works both ways? It's why so many Brits can work and retire abroad. Are you also aware that the floods of refugees that Farage so heavily promoted are a matter for domestic decision? Taking in refugees is a country-decided policy. We're on track to take in about 20,000 Syrian refugees between 2015 and 2020. Regardless of whether you think that's a shameful number (as I do) it's hardly a flood. 2/3 of St Marys spread across the entire UK over five years. Vin
This report makes very disturbing reading. In 2015, a report disclosed that 86% of schools still contained asbestos. In the last 10 years more than 200 hundred teachers have died from asbestos related illnesses, namely mesothelioma. For every teacher fatality it is expected that 9 ex-pupils will contract the disease, which would be around 200 per annum. Something, that should have been done many years ago, needs to be done NOW. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/more-200-teachers-die-asbestos-15001788
Yes vin I do.......the cross boarder thing is not a problem to me personally. Talking to other people especially up north boarder crossings are a big issue
We need immigration to create tax money (increasing working class population) due to our aging population. Its not a permanent solution as you're just kicking the bucket down the road, but for example, we couldn't maintain funding for the NHS without them. We would have to kill literally millions of elderly to go back to pre EU standard NHS. Automation is the solution, increasing output per worker, but we can't introduce that too quickly or you put skilled workers out of a job. Has to be brought in gradually so you are replacing retiree's, not current workers.
Mention again that, as of the UN's 2015 report, the UK doesn't even have a particularly high rate of first-generation residents of any sort. The western countries with the largest number of immigrants, ranked by percentage of total population: Australia - 33.3% Canada - 21.9% Germany - 14.9% United States - 14.3% United Kingdom - 13.2% Spain - 12.8% France - 11.1% Italy - 8.3% Further, the UK is still whiter than most other western nations. For all the hyperventilating about Britain not being British anymore on the extreme right, the UK features a lower percentage of visible minorities than a great many first world countries.
We'll be fine. please log in to view this image Don't worry, Imps, I know it's because of diesel, not Brexit. What a ****ing triumph! Vin
https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/6...ZYAeHRpFE0vUahJAEhhX-3eTmxuTGjmjXnEHNEjC52kMk Leaked paper from Brussels stating if we remain in the EU...the NHS would be killed off.
It is only valid if TTIP is resuscitated. It will be (under a different name of course) as it is no secret that EU policy is for all state public sector to be privatised. Jeremy Corbyn knows this. He has often commented on it and it is why those who challenge him always use it as a counter to his contradictory policies of remaining in the EU yet planning to re-nationalise trains / utilities etc.
No. https://fullfact.org/europe/does-ttip-mean-privatisation-nhs/ Whereas if we leave the EU we become a negotiating minnow. So the US will be able to demand whatever they desire in return for access to their markets. Even more so if we leave in the manner the ERG ****maggots want, with our imposing no tariffs on anything (i.e. with no leverage left at all bar, say, giving away access to things like the NHS). Vin
Jeremy Corbyn does not have a policy of remaining in the EU. His party's policy is to deliver Brexit. He is currently negotiating with the government to do so. Vin
I thought that we would be more vulnerable to losing the NHS, under WTO terms and trade deals with the US, which was why I queried the original point.
It's from the express treat with suspicion and be wary of contamination, it's also old bollocks get up to date ****. Jab
I came across this, on Facebook. It’s a few years old, but it gives a pretty clear outline as to how the press can get away with printing lies. It specifically, no surprise, targets the Daily Fail, although the Express gets a dishonourable mention. About 25 minutes long but quite enlightening. Bollocks, link removed. In a nutshell more evidence that the Mail has always lied.
