Just seen that The Cure's Disintegration and The Stone Roses' eponymous effort are both 30 today.

Two ace records. As if they've been about for 3 whole decades.

Different angle but but it was 50 years ago today the QE2 set off on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.

Later this it will be 50 years since the Beatles recorded their last album, Abbey Road (though it wasn't the last to be released). Amazing to think it was 50 years ago when you consider how many Beatles songs are still played on the radio everyday and how many TV programmes are still produced about them.

True but what I find truly astounding is that from "Love Me Do" to "The End" (via Revolver, Pepper etc) was a span of only 7 years.
