    voting in australia is compulsory
if you dont vote you can face a fine
if you dont vote they take it off you
    thereby making not voting compulsory
why then make it compulsory if they punish you by taking it off you when you so obviously dont want it anyway

What is the point of voting when politicians repeatedly ignore what is voted for and then promise to deliver that result in their manifesto and then lie? I would resent compulsory voting when the candidates have no intention of honouring their promises.

As last night's results show the electorate will not forget these c*nts who pursued their own agendas, the EU elections should rightly see major embarrassment for both Tories and Labour...

We had local elections yesterday and I simply wrote something rude on the paper.
My only choices were Tory, Labour and Lib Dem.
I believe the Brexit party are running in the Euro elections.
    Should be interesting!!

What is the point in spoiling your voting paper
    It counts for nothing
    It's ridiculous
    No one cares
Certainly not the Tory labour or lib dam candidates
If you want to waste your vote then vote for the independent loony who is upset that no one takes the council by law on dog poo seriously

If you'd read my post, you'd see that there were only Tory, Labour and Lib dems to choose from.
Enough spoilt ballot papers sends a message imo.

Apparently there was a campaign for people to spoil their ballot papers (record numbers did this I read) with ‘Brexit means Brexit’.

Results in for my patch, Conservatives lose to No Overall Control. Good result, I like compromise and coalitions.

Just been looking at the results, which have been widely described in the media as the two main parties taking a kicking. Labour didn't do anywhere near as well as they should have done, but they've only lost 63 seats. The Tories have lost 1,269. The winners have been the Lib Dems (676 gains) and the Greens (up 185), both anti-Brexit parties.

Any news on the turnout? I can’t find any.

Totally unrelated, but here is a life well lived. And for the politics rather than the RIP thread I think.

31% in Yorkshire -higher than I had thought - I registered my protest. By voting for the Conservative candidate - the incumbent, because he does a lot of good on local issues. Shouldn't local democracy be run on non -partisan lines?

Corbyn's response to Labour's failure to make any local election gains, despite the Tory disintegration....

I think it means there’s a huge impetus on every MP, and they’ve all got that message, whether they themselves are leave or remain, or the people across the country, that an arrangement has to be made, a deal has to be done, parliament has to resolve this issue - I think that is very, very clear.

    What a ****.

This could have been posted by most Labour MP's.

And Tory MP's think the same about May.

Change in leaderships can't come too fast

No hacking, just immense frustration. All Corbyn had to do was to go along with most of his MPs and the vast majority of the party membership and say,

'We'll do all we can to make a compromise Brexit agreement with Theresa May, but only on condition that whatever is agreed is subject to a confirmatory referendum'.

Most of the gains made by the Lib Dems would then have gone to Labour.

Currently enduring QT with the hopeless Fiona Bruce, as usual, allowing remainers twice as much time as everyone else on the panel, whilst trying to play to the audience with ridiculously unfunny jokes.
Meanwhile, the politicians continue to try to justify their appalling betrayal of the referendum result.
