If the Allams do ever sell & we get a reasonable owner who is willing to back whoever the manager is at the time & put everything back in place that the Allams have smashed to pieces, Hull City will get supporters back, we will build, we will challenge.
TBH, the whole 2008 was a bit of a shock season & I don’t believe anyone believed, before the season started, that we would be anywhere near challenging.

I read many forums (Championship level) and they all slate us as a tin pot club in a rugby hot bed. We will never grow as a club even when the two clowns go, Hull folk are very fickle. I work in a small workshop with 12 rugby/football "fans" l'm the only one who supports City, the other 10 support HFC/HKR and Manure, LFC, TWS, Ipswich, Forest, Arsenal and just recently Man City.

Ipswich? I always look for their results for a daft reason going back to before I had ever been to a City match but surely they moved here and aren't local?

Our success started 2003 rising up the leagues, by our second season in the Premier league the novelty was wearing thin. I remember the game against Bristol City in 2013 that could have got us promoted it was a flat atmosphere with less than 20,000. What we need is Super League to implode or both Hull clubs to go in terminal decline.

Or, preferably, both?

As much as l hate to say it l think we are a rugby stronghold and football comes a second best. I have no interest in rugby but evey where l go it's in my face.

Nope Hull born and bred, started "following" them late 70s. He's never been to Portman Rd, l try not to talk football with them.

They have averaged over 24,000 for the past 15 seasons. Encouraged by very reasonable season ticket prices which people continued to renew as a new buyer wouldn't have got one for that price.
Noticeable how many young faces in the crowd at Norwich last night. And oldies of our age, showing more animation and enthusiasm than too many of ours do,
'oldies of our age' ?????
Speak for yourself.
I'm still a whipper snapper myself.

No, it is a city where the local media have pushed rugby for years, cheap and easy to have a bit of success to write about. So there is more interest in some quarters in the Hull rugby teams than the Hull football club. But there is far more interest in football, far more local football teams and junior teams. Far more people in pubs watching football tournaments, finals, games involving teams not from Hull (loads in pubs watching games involving Liverpool, Man utd and others, there aren't for rugby games not involving Hull teams) and internationals involving football than there are watching rugby league ones. Loads of people walking round with football shirts of clubs from other towns and cities, many of them rugby fans. No one walking round with the shirts of rugby clubs from elsewhere. Never seen a Citymfan with a St Helens, Wigan or Leeds rugbyshirt on, or with a sticker for one of them next to a City one in his car.
We had a chance to alter this but thanks to the Allams it has gone and is unlikely to happen again in the foreseeable future.

“I’ve heard a little whisper that they’re going to back Nige in the Summer. They’ve seen what he can do with limited funds. Don’t expect a spending spree ala Derby or Villa, but actual efforts to get promoted next season will be under way. Funds from the sales of Bowen and others will be given to Nige, but one last effort of a new contract to Jarrod will be made.” - Club Source

I don’t know if that translates as them saying that to Nige to get him to sign, or whether they’re thinking after this season it’s feasible to achieve promotion and make a lot more money.

Only passing it on, don’t believe much of it myself but they did reveal Henriksen’s and Evandro’s bids for freedom before it came out.

I’ll be honest here. Bowen has earned his crack in the PL. I wouldn’t want him to stay. Football careers are very short and he has been brilliant this season and he’d go with my very best wishes. But if the Allams dare sell him for a **** fee - then I’d be ****ed off. £25m should start conversations- he’s every bit as good if not better than James Maddison.

Agree with all that, it would be better if we only had one rugby club. It does make me jealous when vast majority of Championship Clubs can fill their stadiums. Is our natural level league 1?

Totally agree. I don’t think we can stand in his way. The asking price should start around £22m. A bidding war will hopefully push that up. He’s a goal scoring winger who can play up front. Young, English, dynamic. If he goes for any less than £20m then LD needs some sort of acid bath.

Since when LD get involved in player sales negotiations?

He deserves it but is only worth what people are willing to pay, if only online team comes in then I think it will be 17/18m if it's a couple then possibly 20/25.

Even if we had the best owners in the world, I wouldn't be expecting to see hi. Here next season

There are multiple reasons for our historic underachievement.

Remote location, relatively late into the league, competition from rugby every saturday for decades, then competition for sponsorship in a poor city, a fickle local support....and many other factors.

It could be worse- we could be Bradford.

****ing hell.....wrong on so many levels..alot of the same people go to rugby and football and the novelty of premier league wearing thin? Never...as for 19.5 thousand fans for a game against Bristol city in the championship. We can only dream of that now. The only thing wrong with our club is the owners...they go and you will see those crowds return.

You assume the new owners would right all the current perceived wrongs.

I would put us along side teams like Bradford, Huddersfield, Plymouth, Reading, Millwall, Barnsley, Burnley. In the early years at the KC we were the big boys and thought we were a sleeping giant wowing the smaller teams. After the Sheff Wed play off final we were slaughtered all over the country following our empty stands. PS : does anybody know the exact figure of our ticket sales?

Yes but you do know the reason for the empty seats at Wembley don't you?
