That Wyke chance first half is already past the keeper when he gets his hand to it! Feel for him there as it looks in for every second and the keepers hand comes down and it sticks! 95% of the time they hit the hand and go in

Hell of a save wasn't it.

I don't get some of our fans at times.
If we were 10 points clear at the top there would be some who would find fault.
We've just had 4 games in 10 days including a cup final and two others away from home, we've picked up seven points ffs.
No wonder some of the lads were a bit leggy last night little wonder and then take into account our growing list of injuries, Burton had chances as did we but only scored off a lucky deflection yet we came from behind again, that's nearly 30 points won from losing positions and people still find fault, I find that quite staggering imo.
Not "lost" a game either - the only one which will go down as a loss is a 90 minute draw - and the last draw we had was against one of the best footballing sides I've seen this season who are also comfortably top of the form table!!

On another day that Leadbitter shot goes in or one of the Wyke ones hits the net. But 7 points and putting ourselves in the driving seat for the end of season push is a pretty good place to be

Had to watch it half a dozen times in order to understand exactly what happened.

I couldn't see how it stopped!! Still can't to be honest.

Absolutely! Although my Dad thinks it was rubbish finishing but he said that about both of Wyke's chances!! He's scapegoated him.. Never said a word when Sterling blazed one high and wide from 16 yards which was a far worse finish than either! (My Dad annoys the **** out of me at the games to be honest!!)

we wont catch Luton now, so we need a Luton win coupled with us winning, and i would start Kimp he got straight at Burton, why has he not been playing instead of wyke(Danny graham in disguise) ? so Sterling and Kimp to start on Saturday Jack please.
Seriously? You'd drop Wyke after last night? One great save and Once unlucky hitting the bar - won just about every header, flick ons, etc. He was imperative to us yesterday and caused the opposition defence all sorts of problems - his first chance was a top top save

Edit - sorry - only just realised it's Monty so absolutely no point questioning his comments as he's a ****er anyhow

Mine is the same.

For the cup final we weren't sat together but there was a spare seat next to me so he came up at half time.

I actually enjoyed the first half more on my own <laugh>

Well I couldn't get to the cup final due to gigging but part of me was glad as I am starting to really struggle to sit next to him - I'm between him and his brother from another mother who is just like him!

Why the **** play WYKE when we have Benji and Sterling to run at them. hope Jack rests him permanent
Ah my Dad does have an account on here!

Not exactly sure what Wyke did wrong last night - thought he had a very good game. Certainly the best of our strikers (and I include Sterling in that - his finishing was far worse than Wyke!)

Because Wyke played well.
He was showing for everything and on another day he could have had a hat trick
Grigg on the other hand did very little
When the defender missed blocking Power's cross the ball was past Grigg before he reacted, Wyke however who couldn't have expected the cross to reach him reacts quicker than Grigg and gets a decent strike on the ball producing the good save, if he'd had time to place it either side of the keeper he scores.d
Think Jack is playing Grigg with an injury as he's probably reluctant to give that responsibility to young Kimpi at the start of a game. Not easy for the manager just hope he can get him through the next few games.

I think you have to attend the games to appreciate Wyke. Looking at his stats or hearing about his missed chances don't do the guy justice at all. He was very effective last night.

On the negative side, Flanigan and Baldwin gave the worst join-performance for a pair of SAFC centre backs that I've seen in years. We need Catts back to shield them ASAP, and we need midfielders to take the ball from them when we are in possession.

I mean I've been pretty scathing of him for most of the season because I just couldn't see any positives from his performances but he's been properly putting himself about the past couple of games and at least now he's creating the chances to miss them, wasn't doing that before.

Of course he could and probably should have scored against Burton but one hit the bar from his weak foot and the other was a top save so he's done ok.

Wyke may get us promoted.....Grigg injured or not has been disappointing. Hope he comes good, plays like he never wanted to be here to me, muted celebrations etc.

Having been second best for most of the second half, Sunderland have just come within inches of taking the lead.
After some patient build-up, Luke O'Nien saw a shot blocked with the rebound falling to Grant Leadbitter 30 yards from goal.
While the crowd urged him to shoot, the midfielder instead dinked it into the area for Charlie Wyke - whose volley clipped the crossbar and went over.
A big chance goes begging...

for christs sake how many misses does this **** need before we haul him off he was only yards from the goal

thats better Almost an instant impact!

Have to say I find this a bit baffling... Wyke gets a half chance on the volley and hits the bar = he's ****e and needs hauling off.

Literally 2 minutes later Sterling has a great opportunity and blazes miles over and that's somehow a positive...

I’ve said for a while mate the CB options are our Achilles heal.

Lots of changes needed defensively when we step up a level, they will get destroyed by decent championship sides.

People are in a bandwagon about Wyke, anyone slaying him needs to watch games in full. He’s been superb last month or so he’s a handful for anyone and he brings the game on. I genuinely think without the injury he’d have a whole heap of goals this season.

Well all I can say is
We have a good enough squad to get us promoted
But we need a massive overhaul for next season if we want to move forward

Good news is Vince, we've got a manager who has had to overhaul his squad every season he's been a manager. Remember him saying it didn't phase him when he joined cos that's all he's ever known. Not saying it'll be easy but I'm not that worried about it to be honest given that and the recruitment and team spirit from the new squad this season. It's been great and just need to get over the line then do it all again!
By the way I used to be Hettonist, pro lurker for 8 years, but stupid site locked me out and had to start again.
