So there I was, with a few mates in the smoking area outside the Old Bank(pub) in Page Moss, suddenly at the traffic lights nearby there was lots of police motor cycles and blue lights.
It was the escort for the reds team on their way to Melwood from the airport.
Everyone in the pub ran out and was cheering and dancing, this had nothing to do with the official parade and the open top bus for the official parade.
Anyway, we were thinking how lucky we were that we'd seen the lads and carried on with our hangover cure of having more beer.
About an hour later coming the other way towards us was a mass of blue lights, it was the team on their way to Allerton Maze to start the official victory parade, the coach driver had the Champions League trophy in the front next to him and pulled up outside our pub with the horn blasting, the pub like many others was decked out with flags and red and white bunting and we showed our love and appreciation to the players who were dancing and singing inside their coach.
The game wasn't the best in football terms, it was a blur in terms of nerves and how quickly it seemed to go by but i feel extra lucky that I(and the others in our local)got to see the team and trophy before all the other adoring reds fans on the official homecoming.
Thank you LFC(and the Ellisons coach driver)for making things real for us even though we didn't get a ticket for the game.
ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!
