Jack Lyon, one of the last survivors of The Great Escape breakout, died on Friday at his home in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, aged 101.

For any F1 fans, this is a real shock, Charlie Whiting has passed away suddenly at 66 whilst officiating in Melbourne. RIP Charlie.

Also, RIP Felicite Tomlinson, only 18, aspiring, ambitious fashion designer and sister of Louis Tomlinson of One Direction. You don't have to be a 1D fan to feel for this young lad, losing his young sister after his beloved mum only a couple of years ago, truly terrible. RIP.
Seems like a long time ago that I said, on here, that I don't use the word hate, it is, for me, irrevocable. I don't claim to understand what triggers the thinking behind these terrible pre-meditated acts of mindless violence, but it seems to be a resurgent trend from darker days. Too many folk at looking at the wrong things. I hate this mindless slaughter.
This is the only site I've used for discussion. I've returned to post this as it is an abhorrent act and, as much as we may laugh, we, on here, are generally decent people.

Hank Marvin is supposed to have wanted a Stratocaster because he admired the sound legendary American session guitarist James Burton had and thought it must be a Stratocaster because of the reverb. However he later found out Burton had always used a Telecaster.

Yes. Posted about this on a thread a long time ago. But I will mention it again as it reflects well on Scott Walker as someone who had time for his fans and his attitude, which spoke well of him, when you think of recent events regarding celebrities taking advantage of their fans.
A girl at our youth club, who was 14 or 15 at the time. wrote to Scott Walker after his first appearance on TV. I think it was the Walker Brothers singing Pretty Girl Everywhere on Ready, Steady, Go! The record never did much but she got a letter back from Scott Walker saying thank you and it was the first fan letter he had got in England. Some time later a letter arrived for her. It was from Scott Walker. There were two ticketsfor the Walker Brothers concert at Leeds and an invitation to meet him back stage. He enclosed two tickets so she could take her mother as someone else who was older as he understood a parent being concerned about a young girl going off to meet someone. Class act.
Poor lass died from a brain haemorrhage when she was about 30.
