I think we all have been naive in thinking the politicians would do nothing but look after themselves, that's in every party. I can see a and referendum coming to be honest
I heard May say today re 'no deal' that it would be a bumpy start but we would prosper. These Euro elections coming up may be full of Eurosceptic MEP's...now that would be funny. Imagine if the whole rotten house of cards fell due to their own stupidness?
Don't think a second ref would get through Parliament to be honest, Bob. A lot of Labour MP's in Leave constituencies are against it. Most of the Tory party are against it.
I suspect leaders of the large member states don't reflect their electorate. Look at Macron, one of the most unpopular presidents ever. Merkel has had her day. EU economies are doing pretty badly. Youth unemployment is high in southern states. I suspect there's a lot of discontent out there.
Agree Goldie the great European Pillars of the EU are crumbling. Farage said the EU are in for a surprise with the next elections.
Juncker and Tusk could find they have a whole bunch of Continental Farage's to contend with! Couldn't wish it on nicer people...
How do you see it going then Goldie ? I’m ****ed if I know anymore and I’m pretty much beyond carrying if I’m honest.
Unless May pulls an incredible rabbit out of the hat in the next two weeks (unlikely), we'll have an extension until the end of June. Negotiations will continue but without the no-deal pressure on the EU and Ireland, the backstop will stay. So in June, Parliament may vote on May deal with indefinite backstop or no deal. Beyond that, Stainsey, I'm with you, I cannot see how this could resolve itself. We may see splits in parties at this stage, and/or a General Election where the Tories try to get a working majority. We could also see people taking to the streets...
Why are people so desperate for the EU to crumble or for it to go pear shaped? I seriously dont understand why someone would wish that on others. Is it the British spirit? 17 m of us dont want to be part of it so we hope it fails. Quite sad really
Hopefully without May because with her at the helm the party is ruined. These really are weird times. Labour are crap under Comrade Corbyn. He will never be PM. Tories are in big trouble due to the handling of Brexit. The Limp Dems are as irrelevant as 'TIG'. There will be room for a new party. Hopefully a Brexit party will come forward.
It's not schadenfreude. The worse the EU does, the easier it is for reluctant UK Remain MP's to move to a more Brexit position. And the more difficult it is for Europhile MP's to claim the EU is the Land of Milk and Honey. EU economies are doing badly, even Germany. The May elections could be a further watershed.
Yes, I think a Brexit Party wouldn't take long to establish. Everyone knows what their main manifesto pledge will be... It would attract millions of votes from Leave voters nursing a huge injustice
Who would be leader of the ‘Brexit Party’ ? I couldn’t see many hard line (ex) Labour voters, like myself, voting for ****s like JRM or Farage.
I like this shrill, hysterical Ellers. Oh oh, I have been betrayed, I’m a snowflake victim, be scared of what I might do! I might vote for a bunch of nationalist populists to piss you off! Fill your boots baby blue. Your ERG mates couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone an effective political party. It took them months to get a no confidence vote together, which they lost. Their rich mates are busy getting their cash out of the country. Much more likely that May will go before the next election, Johnson will take over with the help of the gammons and blue rinses in the constituencies, and many of your 17.4m mates, who only have influence through their vote, will be conned into voting for him. Splitting the Brexit vote between Tories and Nationalists. Then your chums will get to vote for the people who betrayed them from the word go, the ones who lied to them throughout the leave campaign. Brexit voters believed the **** peddled through the referendum campaign, I’d say a large proportion of them are naive and probably now angry. Not of course the middle class ones like you and Ellers, but the huddled masses of the dying industrial north and the deprived seaside towns. I’m confident none of them voted for a ‘bumpy ride’, they are barely surviving now and were expecting some instant benefits from the referendum result, let alone Brexit itself. These are the people who will genuinely suffer from a no deal Brexit, I’ll just be inconvenienced like you. Neither of us has the right to speak for them. None are natural Tory voters, their vote is more likely to go far right or far left. And the far left have a better story for them, from what I can see.
She’s as big a **** as the rest of them.....the whole lot are ****s......bigger ****s than the biggest **** in the world....x48
